BC, LC, WLU Represented on First and Second Teams
CHANDLER, Ariz. --- The National Field Hockey
Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced its 2010 Longstreth/NFHCA
Division III All-Region teams on Thursday afternoon and ODAC
schools were well represented in the South Region. Lynchburg
College placed two players on the first team and one on the second
team, while Bridgewater College and Washington and Lee University
each had a player on the second team.
LC’s Shelly Milks and Jenny Weir earned First Team All-South
Region laurels. Milks, the 2010 ODAC Player of the Year,
finished the season with 29 points on 10 goals and nine
assists. Weir, a 2009 Second Team All-Region pick and a
three-time First Team All-ODAC choice, led the conference with 20
goals and tied the conference-high with 10 helpers.
Milks and Weir now go on the NFHCA All-American ballot, which will
be released on Monday, November 22.
On the second team, Bridgewater’s Kalah Hess,
Lynchburg’s Amanda Wain and Washington and Lee’s Emmy
Mathews were all honorees. Hess, who earned First Team
All-ODAC honors for the third-consecutive season, finished the year
with three goals and four assists. Wain, a First Team
All-ODAC pick, totaled three goals and dished out five
assists. Mathews picked up her honor for the second time in
her career, having also been honored following the 2008
season. This year, she garnered First Team All-ODAC honors
and was named the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the
Year after finishing with 15 points on four goals and a team-high
seven assists.
