LYNCHBURG, Va. --- Lynchburg College sophomore
midfielder Shelly Milks (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester) was named a
second-team NCAA All-American Monday by the National Field Hockey
Coaches Association. It is the third-straight season that a Hornet
field hockey star achieved All-American status.
Milks, the 2010 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the
Year, earned first-team All-South Region honors late last week.
Using her superior speed, she led the Hornets to an unbeaten record
in conference play and their fifth-straight ODAC Tournament Title.
Offensively, she was third on the team in assists (9) and points
(29) and fourth in goals (10), including two game winning
tallies.
The Hornets finished the season 17-4 and into the NCAA Tournament
for the sixth-straight season.
