LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The 2012 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship Tournament bracket was released early Monday morning, and Lynchburg College will face a familiar opponent on a familiar surface.

The Hornets will host a home game on Wednesday, November 7 on Shellenberger Field, just days after LC claimed its seventh-straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title with a 3-0 win over Randolph-Macon College. Lynchburg plays Catholic University in a re-match from the second round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament, which resulted in a 2-0 Hornet victory. Game time and ticket information will be released Monday afternoon.

The Cardinals earned the Landmark Conference's automatic bid after winning the league's championship game this weekend 3-2 over Drew University. Catholic enters Wednesday's matchup with a 12-7 record and was unranked in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches' Association top 20 poll. The Hornets (17-3) currently sit 17th in Division III.

The winner of the LC/CUA contest advances to compete this weekend at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. Either Lynchburg or Catholic will play #9 Messiah College on Saturday, with #5 UMW hosting the #4 Franklin & Marshall College/#18 Eastern University first-round winner. The two survivors will face-off Sunday, with the victor earning a spot in the semifinals and finals Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 17 and 18, on the campus of William Smith in Geneva, N.Y.
