Lynchburg's Milks Headlines ODAC Field Hockey Awards with Two Honors

SU's Iman-Bianchi and Darrow are Top Coach and Rookie

FOREST, Va. --- Lynchburg College midfielder Shelly Milks took home a pair of major honors as part of the 2012 ODAC Field Hockey awards.  The Hornets' senior won ODAC Player of the Year distinction for the third straight season, and was tabbed the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete for the second year in a row.  Shenandoah University's Kim Iman-Bianchi was named the ODAC Coach of the Year, while SU freshman Alexandra Darrow was selected as the ODAC Rookie of the Year.

Milks, from Gloucester, Pa., stars on and off the field for Lynchburg.  She boasts a 3.97 cumulative grade point average as an Exercise Physiology major and a Spanish minor.  She earned recognition on the 2011 CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team in addition to be named to the All-ODAC Academic Team three times.  She is also a multi-honoree on the Lynchburg Dean's List.  On the field, the 2011 and 2010 NFHCA All-American has helped lead the Hornets to ODAC titles in each of her four seasons, aiding the program in winning seven straight crowns dating back to 2006.  Milks anchors LC's midfield as a two-way player, spending much of her time in defense and linking the back-line with the offense.  In the front third, she has recorded 30 points on 10 goals and 10 assists heading into a Saturday clash with Messiah College in the second round of the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament.

Iman-Bianchi, in her second season guiding the Shenandoah field hockey program, led the Hornets to the program's first postseason tournament as the fifth seed in the ODAC's six-team field.  SU set a new team record with 11 victories, an improvement of six wins from the 2011 season.  Iman-Bianchi owns a 16-21 (.432) record in her first two seasons, including a 5-11 (.313) showing in league play.

Darrow, from Chesapeake, Va., led Shenandoah with 37 points in her first season in Winchester.  Those 37 points ranked second in the ODAC, while her 17 assists were #1 in the conference.  She added 10 goals to her stat line, the fifth-highest total in the league.  Darrow notched hat-tricks twice in 19 games played, including a 10-point outing with three goals and four assists in an 8-0 win over Sweet Briar College.
