SWEET BRIAR, Va. --- Sweet Briar College
Director of Athletics and Chair of Physical Education Kelly
Morrison has announced the appointment of Hannah Lott as the next
Head Field Hockey Coach. Morrison shared, “Coach
Lott's passion and knowledge of the game will put this team back on
the map.” Lott takes the reigns as Vixen field hockey
enters their 95th season of competition.
Coach Lott will be no stranger to the collegiate field hockey
community. She has served as an assistant coach at Smith College
before recently being tabbed as interim head coach at Western New
England University.
Coach Lott brings considerable connections to the field hockey
community. She has coached in the Team USA Futures program as
well as the Nomads club program. In addition, Lott has
extensive experience as a clinician throughout the Northeast.
Lott was a four-year starter during her playing career for the
Presidents of Washington and Jefferson College with career totals
of 11 goals, 13 assists and 35 points. The midfielder/defender
helped the team go 49-21 for a .700 winning percentage from 2008 to
2011.
As team captain, she helped the Presidents to their first Empire-8
Conference title and NCAA Division III tournament appearance in
2011, going 14-5 on the season. During her senior season, she
compiled three goals and 10 assists for 16 points – her
career highs for the latter two categories. She led the squad with
five defensive saves and in assists.
Sweet Briar Athletic Director, Morrison commented, "Sweet Briar has
a long and deep history with Field Hockey and the student-athletes
wanted their new coach to push them to the next level.”
Morrison continued, "Jennifer Crispen set a coaching standard at
Sweet Briar and I am confident she would be very excited about
Coach Lott leading the team."
Head Coach Hannah Lott shared, “Having spent some time with
the team, it is clear that Sweet Briar Field Hockey team has a
passion for the game and a fire within to move forward as a
program. I am excited for the opportunity to coach these women to
harness their passion to create results on and off the field.
I am looking forward to being an active member of Sweet
Briar's close-knit community and athletic department. It is
inspiring to be joining a community that values the whole being and
balanced life of each student-athlete and employee."
