Lynchburg's Steele Posts 500th Career Collegiate Victory

LYNCHBURG, Va. --- After 33 years in the making, head coach Enza Steele collected her 500th career win Saturday afternoon as the 14th-ranked Lynchburg College field hockey team defeated York (Pa.) College 5-2.

The weather conditions were not ideal with torrential downpours throughout the game, but the fans in attendance were treated to history as five Hornets scored in the memorable victory.

Lynchburg picked up two goals early as Kelli Williams scored 10 minutes in beforeMorgan Lammando found the back of the cage two minutes later off a Katie Kline assist.

Lammando pushed the ball past the York goalie, Abby Baker, to Kelsey Link for the game-winner with 28 minutes remaining in the contest.

Grace Ann Edgerton
 and Megan Tillou collected their first goals of the year as Abby Bunting added her first career assist.

Baker had 12 saves for the Spartans (3-4) as Kiersten Wetzel and Katie Petrillo found the cage for York. Jordan Seeley added seven saves for the Hornets.

York had a 7-4 advantage in penalty corners, while Lynchburg outshot the Spartans 29-17.

Lynchburg (5-2) will play Friday against Shenandoah University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match-up at 4 p.m.
