Carrie Jacobs, Randolph-Macon, Freshman, Back

Jacobs, a freshman from Orange, Va., helped R-MC lock up second place and a first-round bye in the ODAC Tournament with a hat trick against Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday.  In R-MC’s 4-1 win, Jacobs tied the game at 1-1 and then added another first half strike to pull the Jackets ahead for good at 2-1.    Jacobs capped the scoring 64 minutes in to seal the win for R-MC.  Jacobs now has a team best 12 goals on the season, which is second in the ODAC.

Field Hockey Honor Roll

Jenessa Derstine, Eastern Mennonite, Freshman, Attack
Derstine had points in each of EMU’s three games this week, totaling four assists, two goals and eight total points as the Lady Royals went 2-0 against ODAC opponents.  In Sunday’s ODAC Quarterfinal win over Bridgewater, Derstine’s speed set up two goals, including the game-winner with 1:46 left in the first overtime.  On Thursday, when the Lady Royals clinched the No. 4 seed in the tourney, Derstine assisted on the game-winner early in the second half, then added another assist and goal of her own in the 5-2 win.  She also had EMU’s only score against Ursinus (lost 8-1).  Derstine is now tied for second in the ODAC with 29 points, and is in the top six in both goals (10) and assists (9).

Lindsay Leonard, Lynchburg, Junior, Attack

Leonard scored three goals and registered one assist in two wins last week for the third-ranked Lynchburg College field hockey team. Leonard scored two goals against Bridgewater College and tallied a goal and an assist in the game against Sweet Briar College. She leads the ODAC in points (69) and goals (29) and ranks near the top of several offensive categories in the NCAA Division III.

Grover notched the first goal in a 2-0 victory over St. Mary's last week.
