W&L's Jones Announced as ODAC Women's Golfer of the Year

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. --- The 2019 All-ODAC Women's Golf Awards were announced in a ceremony on Monday evening and completed following play at the 2019 ODAC Women's Golf Championships. Ten individuals were honored as All-ODAC honorees with several others earning special awards.

Washington and Lee sophomore Laurie Jones earned ODAC Golfer of the Year laurels thanks in part to her individual medal on the ODAC Championships following a one-hole playoff with teammate Beth Ann Townsend. Townsend, however, did not go home empty handed. In addition to joining Jones and fellow General Griffin Foultz on the All-ODAC First Team, Townsend received ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete honors from the conference's sports information directors.

W&L's haul of awards continued two-fold. Head coach Pete Gyscek repeated as ODAC Coach of the Year, while first-year Savannah Johnson earned ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels in addition to a spot on the All-ODAC Second Team.

The ODAC women's golf coaches also created a new sportsmanship award at their annual meeting during the tournament. The inaugrual ODAC Sportswoman of the Year award went to Randolph-Macon senior Katelyn Jordan.
