ODAC Announces All-ODAC Men's Golf Awards

FOREST, Va. --- ODAC champion Guilford College collected a league-best five all-conference honors in addition to two special individual accolades to headline the 2021 All-ODAC Men's Golf Awards. That haul includes a third straight ODAC Golfer of the Year plaque for Guilford's James Mishoe.

Quakers' mentor Adam Crawford picked up his first Jack Jensen Coach of the Year award from his peers. Hampden-Sydney College's Meade Slonaker took home ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels, while Tigers teammate Allen Smith was tabbed the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete by the league's athletic communications personnel. Bridgewater College's Ronnie Uszenski garnered Ted Keller Sportsman of the Year plaudits.

ODAC GOLFER OF THE YEAR
Guilford senior James Mishoe earned his third straight ODAC top player award featuring a conference-best 70.6 per round scoring average and current ranking as the #1 player in NCAA Division III by Golfstat. Mishoe finished no lower than 11th in six events competed this season. He won the Savannah Invitational after posting a 13-under 203 (65-67-71) and added a second individual medal at the Jekyll Island Invitational at 8-under 208 (70-69-69). He tied for second at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate at 3-under 141 (67-74). Mishoe carded a 6-under 66 in the final round of the ODAC Championships in an attempt to catch leader and eventual medalist Hunter Martin from Hampden-Sydney, only to come up one stroke short and chime in as the runner-up at 4-under 212 (73-73-66). He and Martin were the only players to finish under par for the championship.

JACK JENSEN COACH OF THE YEAR
Adam Crawford enjoys his first ODAC top coaching honor in his third season guiding the Quakers program. Guilford captured its ODAC-best 18th championship trophy at Bryan Park Golf & Conference Center, marking its first conference title since earning back-to-back crowns in 2017 and 2018. The Quakers enter the 2021 NCAA Division III Championships as the second ranked team in the country by Golfstat. They trail only Methodist University on a list that features a top-five composed of all South Region schools.

ODAC ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Hampden-Sydney first-year Meade Slonaker enjoyed a strong first campaign for the Tigers, posting a 75.3 scoring average to tie for ninth in the ODAC. In six events competed, he finished inside the top-10 twice with two additional top-15 showings. Slonaker started the year with a ninth-place outing at the Royal Lakes Invitational at 13-over 229 (78-74-77). He capped his season with his best finish of the year, tying for fifth at the ODAC Championships at 8-over 224 (76-73-75).

ODAC/VIRGINIA FARM BUREAU SCHOLAR-ATHLETE
Hampden-Sydney senior Allen Smith pairs this honor with an All-ODAC Second Team selection. In the classroom, Smith boasts a 3.54 grade point average as a psychology major. A three-time All-ODAC Acaemic Team honoree, Smith earned Division III Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar distinction in 2019-20.

On the course, the 2018 ODAC Co-Rookie of the Year is now a two-time All-ODAC honoree. He posted a 76.1 per round average that included a pair of top-10 finishes. He tied for fifth at the Tiger Invitational at 4-under 140 (67-73) and finished sixth at the H-SC Invitational at 3-over 147 (75-72).

TED KELLER SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR
Bridgewater's Ronnie Uszenski has been described as good-natured and as having one of the most outgoing and personable demeanors of any player in the conference by his coach, a sentiment with which the ODAC coaches group agreed. On the course, Uszenski pairs this honor with an All-ODAC Second Team selection. He posted a 75.3 scoring average to tie for ninth in the conference. Three times he finished inside the top-10, including a third place showing at the VSGA Intercollegaite at even-par 108 (73-35) in the 27-hole event. He tied for fifth at the ODAC Championships at 8-over 224 (75-75-74) and placed seventh at the Bridgewater Shootout at 4-over 76.
