Ty Palmer, Guilford, So.

Palmer, a sophomore from Kernersville, N.C., led the Quakers to a dominating win at the Gordin Classic, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.  Palmer fired rounds of 66, 66 and 74 to finish 10-under-par and win individual medalist honors by nine strokes over the second place golfer.  The medal is the first for Palmer in his collegiate career.  Both rounds of six-under 66 came on the same day as competing teams played twice on Monday on the par-72 7,010-yard track at the Colmbus Country Club.  Palmer's 132 set a new GC record for the lowest 36-hole total in school history.  His three-round (54 holes) total of 206 is second only to Noah Ratner's 204 at the 2011 Golfweek Invitational.  Palmer's effort helped Guilford claim its first team title of the season as the Quakers finished at eight-over-par 872 to win by 17 strokes over Rhodes College.  The win also marks the fifth Gordin Classic title in program history.
