Sophia Martone, Bridgewater, Fy.

Martone, a first-year from Holly Springs, N.C., was the driving force behind a banner tournament for Bridgewater women's golf at the Knights Invitational hosted by Southern Virginia University. Martone won her first collegiate medal in record fashion as she finished at 4-under par 140 following 36 holes on the par-72 layout set to 5,736 yards at Vista Links in Buena Vista, Va. She opened with an even-par 72 before posting the lowest single round in program history with a 68. She birdied two of the final four holes to post her 4-under round score, tying former national champion Christina Herbert for the lowest round in relation to par in team history.* Martone's efforts helped lead Bridgewater to the team title at 45-over par 621. The Eagles carded team rounds of 320 an 301 with the latter total establishing a new program benchmark by three strokes.

*Herbert posted a 69 on a par-73 course on April 9, 2017.
