ODAC Players Secure 20 of 22 Selections

ASHLAND, Va. --- Roanoke College senior Jon Mason and his coach Bill Pilat have been recognized as the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) State Player and Coach of the Year as the organization announced its All-State Men's Lacrosse Teams Friday afternoon.

Named ODAC Player-of-the Year and an all-league first-team member earlier this season, Mason (Orangeville Ontario, Canada) was recently honored as the Lt. Col. J. I. (Jack) Turnbull - NCAA Division III Attack Player of the Year.  As the Turnbull Award Winner, Mason earned First Team NCAA Division III All-America honors as well.

This season, Mason led the Maroons and the Nation with 75 goals, while he also dished out 16 assists for a total of 91 points.  A three time All-American, Mason amassed 247 career goals and 35 assists for 282 points.  His career goals and points are tops in the Roanoke record books.

Pilat receives top coaching honors in the Commonwealth for the third consecutive year.  This season, Pilat led the Maroons to a school record 15 wins, a second consecutive ODAC Championship, a trip to the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament, and a final National ranking of seven for the 2007 season.   For his efforts, Pilat was named ODAC Coach of the Year for the eighth time in his 19 seasons at the helm of the RC program.
