H-SC, LC Set to Host in NCAA Men's Lax Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Not only were two ODAC squads selected to the 34-team field that will compete in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament, but both were tapped to host first round matchups.

Hampden-Sydney College, winners of the ODAC's automatic bid, are joined by at-large choice Lynchburg College (see the reaction from the watch party) in representing the conference on the national stage. Both will also stay at home as second round hosts.

The 34-team championship bracket is comprised of 24 teams that earned automatic entry from their conferences, a group that includes Hampden-Sydney. Three squads received Pool "B" selections as true independent teams or those playing in conferences that don't qualify for an automatic bid. The remaining seven berths, including Lynchburg, came via at-large selection out of Pool "C."

The odd tournament-field size results in just two first round games on Tuesday, May 9. The remaining 30 teams plus the two first round winners play on Wednesday, May 10.

Hampden-Sydney (15-5) welcomes Transylvania University (13-3) to Central Virginia for a second round showdown. TU earned its tournment place after capturing the Ohio River Men's Lacrosse Conference (ORMLC) title. Lynchburg (13-6) welcomes Sewanee (10-6) to the Hill City on Wednesday. The Tigers won the Southern Athletic Assocation (SAA) title a week ago.
