ODAC Sends Three to NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Not one, not two, but three ODAC member schools will have representation in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament, as announced by the NCAA on Sunday evening. Conference champion Lynchburg College, owners of the league's automatic bid, will be joined by a pair of at-large selections in Roanoke College and Washington and Lee University.

The men's lacrosse field is 36 teams large in 2018. Twenty-five schools earned entry like Lynchburg as automatic qualifiers from their respective conferences. Two schools were picked as true independents, while RC and W&L account for two of the nine at-large choices to the field.

All three ODAC teams avoided play in any of the four first round games and will begin competition in the second round. Lynchburg (12-8) hits the road for its opening contest with a trip to Carlisle, Pa. The Hornets square off with Centennial Conference champion Dickinson College (15-3). The Red Devils are ranked ninth in the latest USILA Division III Coaches Poll.

Both Roanoke (14-5) and Washington and Lee (14-4) will host their first contests. The Maroons, slotted 17th by the USILA, welcome intra-state rival Christophopher Newport University (14-4) to Kerr Stadium in Salem. The 16th-ranked Captains earned an at-large bid after falling to the Salisbury University, 14-3, in the semifinals of the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) tournament. The Generals, ranked 12th in the country, will see Transylvania University (12-6) join them on the turf at Wilson Field in Lexington. The Pioneers earned their spot by winning their fourth straight Ohio River Men's Lacrosse Conference (ORMLC) championship via a 12-2 decision over St. Vincent College.
