LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The Lynchburg College men's and Roanoke College women's squads ran away with the team titles Saturday at the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Lynchburg College.  The men's victory was the 10th straight and 22nd all-time for the Hornets while Roanoke claimed its fourth straight and Hornet sophomore Chris Martin was named the Men's Most Valuable Performer of the Meet and Bridgewater's Tony Konate took home the men's Freshman of the Year crown. Lynchburg's Dr. Jack Toms was named the ODAC Men's Coach of the Year and Scott Decker earned the ODAC Men's Track & Field Outdoor Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Washington & Lee's Elizabeth Webb was voted the women's Most Valuable Performer of the Meet and the Scholar-Athlete of the Year as well. Robin Yerkes from Roanoke took home the Freshman of the Year Award and the Maroons' Finn Pincus was named the conference women's coach of the year. Roanoke's men's and women's track program earned the team sportsmanship award.

Martin won the long jump (22'9.25") and the triple jump (45'3") and took third in the high jump. Junior Travis Wray won the 1,500 meters in 3:59.84 and placed third in the 5,000, while Chris Word won the 400-meter dash (48.60) and was third in the 200.

Andy Rollins won the pole vault, clearing 16-6 to set the ODAC and school records in the event as well as automatically qualify for national competition. Brian Wright cleared 6'2" to win the high jump and Chris Florio used a 168'3" heave to take home the javelin title. Lynchburg's 4x400-meter relay team of Earl Graves, Robby Jackson, Word and Brandon Edwards finished over eight seconds ahead of the competition and won in 3:19.22. Ryan Holmes scored points for LC in three different events; placing second in the triple jump, third in 110-meter hurdles and fifth in the long jump.

On the women's side, Roanoke won 10 different events.  To win her Rookie of the Year honors, Yerkes won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes and was also on Roanoke's first place 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. On the 400-meter relay team, Yerkes was joined by Kate Mason, Tonya Phillippe, and Jaleesa Osborne, while Phillippe, Laura Scuffins, and Jess Smith all ran on the 1,600-meter relay team.

Phillippe was the conference champion in the 400-meter dash. Junior Meredith Withers won both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles events, while Osborne took first place overall in the long jump. The Maroons also took first in the triple jump, getting the winning performance from freshman Dominique McCoy. Katie Suehs rounded out Roanoke's first place finishes, winning the hammer throw.
