Sippie, a freshman from Toms River, N.J., opened his first outdoor campaign with three strong races and his first appearance in the javelin at the Dr. Jack Toms Open. He and teammates Rachad Davis, Curtis Whitlow and Zachary Kezar won the 4x100-meter relay in 43.16 seconds, ranking tops in the ODAC and 12th in NCAA Division III. Sippie went on to place second overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.81 seconds. That is #1 in the conference and fifth in the nation so far this season. He added a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 49.17, which is second in the conference and seventh in the country. Sippie added a 19th-place showing in the javelin with a mark of 28.90 meters (94' 10.0").
Men's Outdoor Track & Field Honor Roll
Colby Shiver, Bridgewater (Va.) -
(Senior, Throws, Shot Put - Hampton, Va.)
Shiver and Bridgewater competed in the Roanoke Invitational over
the week, with Shiver taking first place in both the discus and
shot put, as well as second place in the hammer throw. For those
performances, he earned the Male Athlete of the Meet award. In the
discus, he threw for a distance of 33.07 meters (108' 6.0"). In the
shot put, he recorded a toss of 11.54 meters (37' 10.50"). In
the hammer throw, he attained a distance of 33.88 meters (109'
6.0").
Michael Allen, Eastern Mennonite -
(Senior, Jumps/Sprints - Fork Union, VA)
Allen won one event at Saturday's Roanoke Invitational and also
came home with three more silvers. The leaper won the long jump,
landing at 6.63 meters (21' 9.0"), taking over the top spot in the
ODAC. In the triple jump, he was only taking a half approach to
work on technique and still finished second at 12.22 meters (40'
1.25"). He was a close second in the 200-meter dash, crossing the
finish in 23.56. Allen was also part of the EMU's 4x100-meter relay
team, which took second in 44.04. The foursome was just 0.31 behind
Bridgewater's team, and had the seventh-best time in EMU
history.
Chad Norton, Guilford College - (Jr., -
Walled Lake, Mich.)
At Wake Forest Open, Norton finished sixth overall and first among
D3 competitors in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:52.77.
That broke a 41-year old school record by 12.16 seconds. In
the 5,000-meter run, Norton just missed setting a second Guilford
record with a time of 14:55.61 to place eighth overall and second
among D3 competitors.
Trevor Hunt, Roanoke - (SR, - Roanoke,
VA)
Hunt placed First in the 100 meter dash (11.55) and third in the
200-meter dash (23.40) at the Roanoke Invitational. He and
Justin Jordan, Peter Tainer and Marcel Galiber placed third in the
4x400-meter relay in 3:51.03.
Aaron Jeong, Washington and Lee - (So.,
- Federal Way, Wash./Thomas Jefferson)
At the Dr. Jack M. Toms Open hosted by Lynchburg, Jeong won the
100-meter dash with a time of 10.87. It marked a new personal best
and was just .03 seconds from tying the W&L record. It is the
fifth-fastest time in the Division III so far this year, and the
top mark in the ODAC. Jeong also competed in the 200-meter
dash, posting a time of 23.41 seconds.
