Peter Fulton, Bridgewater, Jr., Throws

Fulton, a junior from Bridgewater, Va., set a pair of Bridgewater program records and nearly reset the oldest active throwing record in ODAC history following his outing at the WildCat Track Festival hosted by Randolph College. Fulton won both the discus and hammer competitions over the weekend, resetting the Eagles' records in both. He spun the discus 50.09 meters (164-4.00) smash the 47.96-meter mark established by Ralph Stevenson in 1981. Fulton's new record is #1 in the ODAC this year and ranks sixth in NCAA Division III. His mark is also less than two feet off the ODAC record of 50.62 meters (166-1.00) set by former Lynchburg standout Seth McGuffin in 1995. Fulton tossed the hammer 53.25 meters (174-8.00) to strengthen his grip on #2 in the ODAC this season. It ranks 16th nationally. Fulton's hammer throw bested the former school-record of 52.00 meters set by Nathan Turner in 2008.
