LC, RC, WLU Earn Team Awards; Seven Individuals Honored
SALEM, Va. --- Washington and Lee University,
Lynchburg College and Roanoke College were all honored with team
awards for women's cross country in the annual the United States
Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)
All-Academic Teams. In addition, the Generals added five
runners to the individual academic lists while the Hornets placed a
pair.
Washington and Lee boasted a team grade point average of 3.448,
leading the ODAC's contingent. Lynchburg posted a 3.39 gpa
and Roanoke displayed a 3.317 gpa. The association recognized
157 Division III women's programs for compiling a team score at the
NCAA Regional Meet and achieving a minimum 3.10 team cumulative
grade-point average.
To be eligible for the individual award, a student-athlete must
maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and finish in
the top 25 percent of the field at their respective NCAA regional
meet. The five Generals on that list include seniors Jessica Shaw,
Becca Taylor and Elizabeth Webb, junior Kat Telfeyan and sophomore
Christine Balistreri. Lynchburg added junior Ashley Meyer to
the list of 221 Division III student-athletes.
The lone men's honoree was also the ODAC's highest finisher at the
NCAA Division III Championships. Lynchburg's Ricky Flynn was
amongst 130 runners recognized.
