Both Generals Multiple Academic, Athletic Award Winners
TOWSON, Md. --- Washington and Lee seniors
Becca Taylor (Hamilton, Ohio/Edgewood) and Elizabeth Webb
(Middleburg, Va./Wakefield) have been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The
Magazine College Division Women's Cross Country and Track &
Field Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors
of America (CoSIDA). Both Taylor and Webb were tabbed to the third
team.
Webb earned Academic All-America honors for first time in her
career. A biochemistry major, Webb is a two-time All-ODAC and
All-Region honoree in cross country. She qualified for the 2007
NCAA Championship event and helped lead the Generals to
four-straight ODAC titles. In track & field, she earned
numerous All-ODAC honors, including being named the ODAC Outdoor
Athlete of the Year as a junior and the ODAC Indoor and Outdoor
Athlete of the Year as a senior. She also received the ODAC/Farm
Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award for both the indoor and
outdoor seasons her final two years. Webb, who holds five school
records, is also the recipient of a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate
Scholarship, as welll as a Fulbright Scholarship.
Taylor earned third team laurels for the second-consecutive season.
An economics major, Taylor is a three-time receipient of the
ODAC/Farm Bureau Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Award and an All-ODAC athlete in both cross country and track &
field. In cross country, she is a three-time First Team All-ODAC
selection. Additionally, Taylor was a Second Team All-ODAC honoree
as a sophomore. She has garnered All-South/Southeast Region honors
three times and qualified for the 2007 NCAA Division III
Championships as a junior. During her track & field career,
Taylor has claimed First-Team All-ODAC citations in the
steeplechase, the indoor mile and the oudoor 1,500 meters. In
addition, Taylor holds one individual school record and is a member
of two school-record relay teams.
Taylor and Webb's selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-America
squad brings W&L's all-time total to 51 student-athletes
honored since 1975. The CoSIDA College Division consists of
student-athletes from all NCAA Division II, III and NAIA schools
across the United States.
