ODAC Athletes Perform Well at NCAA Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. --- Bridgewater College senior Olivia Mills and Lynchburg College junior Cody Stanton both finished inside the top-35 in their respective races to earn All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.  The duo leads an ODAC contingent that included eight individuals and the LC men's team.

Mills, who has won the past two ODAC individual titles, crossed the finish line in 21:49.30 to place 26th overall and lead a group of four individual runners from ODAC schoools competiting on the six-kilometer course.  Teammate Kaylee Kubisiak, competing in her first NCAA championship after earning ODAC Rookie of the Year honors, placed 123rd with a time of 22:55.1.

Washington and Lee University seniors Lauren Schultz and Molly Ortiz complete the ODAC's female contingent.  Schultz stopped the watches in 23.20.2 to place 180th overall.  Ortiz posted a time of 23:31.9 to place 206th out of the 263 competitors.

On the men's side, Stanton was the top ODAC finisher as he led the Lynchburg men's team to a 26th place finish on the eight-kilometer course.  The ODAC's individual champion recorded a time of 25:00.8 to place 23rd overall.  Lawrence Minor (26:09.1), Nolan Compton (26:10.8), Evan Parry (26:43.1) and Brian Robinson (26:52.3) comprised the remainder of the Hornets' squad that accumulated 606 points.

Bridgewater's Luke Sohl capped his strong season with a 51st place finish in 25:19.60 to lead the ODAC's four men's individual participants.  Guilford College's Chad Norton posted a time of 25:31.1 to place 74th overall, the highest showing for a Quaker in program-history.  He was joined by teammate Andris Goncarvos in the competition, who placed 107th in 25:45.6.  Roanoke College's Tim Smith, the 2011 ODAC individual champion, capped his senior season by placing 147th in 26:00.8.
