Smith, a senior from Roanoke, Va., wins an ODAC weekly award for the fourth time as he set a new personal season-high time on an eight-kilometer course at the Blue Ridge Invitational hosted by Appalachian State. Smith completed the race in 25:42.90 to finish 19th overall and first among NCAA Division III competitors in the heavy Division I field. This marks the fourth time that Smith has either won a race or been the first D-III competitor to cross the finish line this season.
Men's Cross Country Honor Roll
Luke Sohl, Bridgewater, Freshman
Sohl finished 23rd out of a field of 201 runners that was
heavy in NCAA Division I competition. He completed the the 8K
course in 25:45.4. Bridgewater finished 12th out 23 teams. The
11 teams ahead of the Eagles were all Division I teams. BC defeated
six Division I teams in the event.
Derick Kosgei, Guilford, Senior
Kosgei won the N.C. Collegiate Championships/SE Region Challenge in
a time of 26:42.39 on the 8K course. He outkicked the 41-man
field to secure his fourth career cross country title.
Cody Stanton, Lynchburg, Sophomore
Stanton placed 21st in a time of 26:26 (5:19/mi) in a field of
315 competitors Saturday at the 2011 Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted
by Oberlin College.
