Clay Kauffman, Eastern Mennonite, Sr.

Kauffman, a senior from Broadway, Va., set a new personal record in winning the eight-kilometer race at the Hornet Harrier and Commonwealth Challenge hosted by Shenandoah University. The event also doubled as the ODAC Preview with the Kernstown Battlefield course set to host the ODAC Cross Country Championships on Halloween weekend. Kauffman topped a field of 99 competitors in resetting his own personal-best 8K time by nearly 10 seconds. He stopped the watches in 27:06.9 and used a per-mile pace of 5:27.3 to help him win the race by 6.4 seconds over teammate Immanuel Bellamy in second place. Kauffman and Bellamy's 1-2 finish helped the Royals to third place in the team standings with 73 points.
