James, a sophomore from Bristow, Va., leapt to the top of the ODAC six-kilometer top times chart this season with a stellar day at the NCAA South Region Preview hosted by Christopher Newport University. James finished fifth overall behind four runners from the College of William & Mary, leaving her as the top Division III competitor in the field. She finished the course at Lee Hall Mansion in 22:34.0, stopping the watches 20.1 seconds faster than teammate Molly Silva as the second-quickest Division III athlete in the 165-runner field. James now sits sixth on Lynchburg's all-time 6K list. The Hornets, ranked 27th in the country as a team, placed second overall with 54 points on the team chart trailing only William & Mary.
