ODAC Players of the Week

BASEBALL
Nick Corbin, Bridgewater, Sr.,
Pitcher
Corbin, a senior from Staunton, Va.,
put together a nine-inning complete game effort in the Eagles 5-1
conference win over Guilford College. Corbin scattered seven hits
and walked three batters while surrendering just one unearned run.
He fanned a pair of Quakers along the way. Now 3-0 on the season,
Corbin has thrown 18 innings without allowing an earned run.

BASEBALL
Ryan Hedrick, Eastern Mennonite, Fr.,
Catcher/Outfielder
Hedrick, a freshman from Bridgewater,
Va., helped the Royals to a 4-1 week that included three wins in
one day (March 7). Hedrick was 7-for-19 (.368) with five runs
scored and seven driven in. He also stole a pair of bases and
walked twice towards a .409 OBP. He hit safely in all five
contests, collecting a pair of two-hit games. He went 5-for-11 on
EMU's three-win day, driving in seven runs. Hedrick is now batting
.322 with 20 RBI on the season.

MEN'S LACROSSE
Chris Voohees, Bridgewater, Fr,
Attack
Voorhees, a freshman from Brookeville,
Md., put together an 11-point week as the Eagles picked up a pair
of non-conference victories. In a 17-4 win over Southern Virginia,
Voorhees set a new program record with six goals scored, adding one
assist to give him seven points, also a new BC standard. He
followed that with four goals in a 10-6 triumph at Transylvania
University. For the season, Voorhees is tied for fifth in the ODAC
with 12 goals scored.

MEN'S TENNIS
Kenny Downing, Virginia Wesleyan, Fr.,
No. 2 Singles, No. 1 Doubles
Downing, a freshman from Washington,
D.C., helped the Marlins to a 3-0 team record three singles wins
and a 2-1 mark in doubles action. Downing posted #2 singles wins
against Guilford College (5-7, 6-1, 6-1 over Meiler),
Randolph-Macon College (6-4, 4-6, 6-3 over Hoerr) and PSU-Abington
(6-0, 6-0 over Howell), with his win over R-MC a key to Marlins'
5-4 team win. He and partner Graham Wilson topped Guilford (8-5
over Votipka/Meiler) and PSU-Abington (8-1 over Howell/Dunson), but
lost to Randolph-Macon (8-4 to Byrd/Baxter) in #1 doubles play.
Downing's singles record now stands at 3-1.

SOFTBALL
Casey Snead, Guilford, So.,
Pitcher
Snead, a sophomore from Ellerbe, N.C.,
improved to 4-0 on the season in the Quakers 7-1 triumph over N.C.
Wesleyan. Snead tossed a complete-game three-hitter, allowing one
run while walking one and fanning four Bishops in seven innings of
work. She also helped herself at the dish with a RBI double. Snead
is fifth in the ODAC with a 1.48 earned run average in 23.2 innings
of work so far this season.

SOFTBALL
Melanie Tenney, Lynchburg, Sr., Second
Base
Tenney, a senior from Yorktown, Va.,
picks up her second weekly award of the season after helping
Lynchburg to a 4-2 week. Tenney was red-hot at the dish, going
12-for-18 with three doubles and a pair of homers. She added 12
runs scored and 14 RBI in addition to a pair of stolen bases and
three walks towards a .714 on-base percentage. She had four
multi-hit games, including a 4-for-4 showing with two doubles and
five RBI in a 12-2 win over Wilkes University. She had three hits
including a double and homer with five more RBI in a 15-5 triumph
over Rutgers-Newark. For the season, Tenney is second in the ODAC
with a .595 batting average, 21 runs scored and 21 RBI. Her three
homers are tied atop the conference.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Samantha Sisson, Shenandoah, Sr.,
Midfielder
Sisson, a senior from Keuka Park,
N.Y., exploded for 19 points to help the Hornets to a trio of
non-conference wins last week. Sisson opened her week with seven
goals and three assists in the Shenandoah's 14-9 triumph over
Frostburg St. She followed that with one marker and three helpers
in a 17-5 victory against Goucher. In that game, Sisson become the
Hornets all-time points and goals score leader. She added to those
tallies in a 14-6 win over Marymount (Va.) with four goals and an
assist. She also collected seven ground balls and six draw controls
while causing four turnovers on the week. Sisson's SU career
records currently stand at 259 points and 188 goals scored. This
season, she's tied for first in the ODAC with 30 points and tied
for second with 19 goals scored.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Marissa Cifuentes, Virginia Wesleyan,
Fr., No. 3 Singles, No. 1/2/3 Doubles
Cifuentes, a freshman from Virginia
Beach, Va., put together a 7-1 overall showing between action at #3
singles and all three doubles flights for the Marlins. She posted
singles wins over Sweet Briar College (6-0, 6-1 over Raifsnider),
Guilford College (6-1, 6-0 over Giles), Randolph-Macon College
(6-3, 6-2 over McDonald) and PSU-Abington (6-0, 6-1). She and
partner Hannah Rice topped SBC (8-1 over Fletcher/Rutledge) and GC
(8-3 over Prokosch/Stern) at #2 doubles, but the duo fell to R-MC
(8-2 to Ogunshina/Grice) at the third flight. Cifuentes and Mia
Proctor teamed up for #1 doubles action against PSU-Abington,
posting an 8-1 win.
