ODAC Players of the Week

FOOTBALL
John Carrick, Washington and Lee, So.,
Linebacker
Carrick, a sophomore from Charlotte,
N.C., helped the Generals pick up their first win of the season in
a 28-25 nail-biter against Randolph-Macon. Carrick finished with
five tackles on the game, but his biggest plays came in fourth
quarter when he intercepted a pair of Yellow Jacket pass attempts.
His first take away came with less than eight minutes to play as he
came down with the turnover at the R-MC 46-yard line and returned
it to the 22-yard line. That setup a Generals touchdown to make the
scored 28-17. After Randolph-Macon scored, converted a two-point
conversion to pull within 28-25 and got the ball back, Carrick put
an end to any comeback attempt by intercepting a pass a the W&L
15-yard line with seven-seconds to play. The interceptions were the
first two for Carrick on the season. He leads the Generals with 40
total tackles.

FOOTBALL
Holton Walker, Hampden-Sydney, Sr., Wide
Receiver
Walker, a senior from Lynchburg, Va.,
put his name in the Hampden-Sydney and ODAC record books on
Saturday as he helped the Tigers defeat previously undefeated Emory
& Henry, 49-27. Walker caught 10 passes for 275 yards and three
touchdowns, which each going for 30-yards or more. The 275
receiving yards broke his own single-game school-record of 268
yards set against Maryville (Tenn.) in the NCAA Division III
playoffs last season. The performance is also the third-best in
ODAC single-game history, eclipsing himself on that list as well.
He caught scoring passes of 75, 30 and 43 yards, with his first
touchdown coming on H-SC's second possession. Walker leads the ODAC
with 843 receiving yards. He's second in receptions (41) and
touchdowns (7).

FIELD HOCKEY
Shannon Strosser, Bridgewater, So.,
Defender
Strosser, a sophomore from Dover,
Del., helped the Eagles to a pair of ODAC wins last week, which put
them into second position in the ODAC standings. Strosser had a
hand in all three goals in BC's double-overtime victory at
Shenandoah, which previously had not lost in conference play.
Strosser scored the first goal of the game and then sent to game
into overtime with her tally in the 62nd minute. She assisted
Taylor Prillaman on the game-winner in the 92nd minute. Later in
the week, Strosser assisted on the game's opening goal in a 3-0
home win over Virginia Wesleyan. This week's goals were the first
of the season for Strosser. She now has four total assists.

GOLF
Kyle Fuller, Randolph-Macon,
Sr.
Fuller, a senior from Richmond, Va.,
helped the Yellow Jackets to a second place team finish out of 15
squads at the Ted Keller Memorial hosted by Randolph-Macon at the
Hanover Country Club. Full tied for first overall with a two round
total of 144 after rounds of one-over 71 and three-over 73. He and
Brad Lankler from Franklin & Marshall College competed in a
playoff to determine the individual medialist. Lankler separated
himself on the third extra hole. Fuller is currently second in the
ODAC with a 73.1 per round average over eight rounds competed.

GOLF
Caroline Holloway, Washington and Lee,
Fr.
Holloway, a freshman from Gainesville,
Fla., helped lead W&L to a third-place showing out of 16 teams
at the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational at the Baytowne Golf
Club in Sandestin, Fla. The event featured eight of the nation's
top-18 teams, but Holloway helped set the tone from the start for
the Generals, shooting an opening round 69 (-3) that led the
tournament and is the lowest round in ODAC history. She shot an 84
the second day, but recovered to shoot a -2 70 in the final round
to finish second overall with the two lowest rounds of the
tournament. Holloway played seven rounds during the fall and
averaged 77.7 strokes per round, second-best in the ODAC.

MEN'S SOCCER
Troy Jurney, Randolph, So.,
Midfielder
Jurney, a sophomore from Camp Lejeune,
N.C., put together an eight-point week as the WildCats went 1-1 in
league play. He opened the week by contributing to all four goals
in Randolph's 4-0 win over Randolph-Macon. He scored three times,
notching only the third hat-trick in program history, and added an
assist to to tie the WildCats' single-game record of seven points.
Later in the week in a 2-1 loss at Virginia Wesleyan, Jurney
assisted on Randolph's goal. For the season, Jurney has racked up
11 points on four goals and three assists.

SWIMMING
John Womack, Washington and Lee,
So.
Womack, a sophomore from Glendale,
Ariz., helped the Generals to a dual meet win over Mary Washington
last week. Womack finished first in a pair of individual events and
helped his teammates to a victory in one relay. He won the 200-yard
and 500-yard freestyles, posting times of 1:46.94 and 4:58.44,
respectively. He also swam a leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay
team that touched the wall first in a time of 1:27.12.

SWIMMING
Elisabeth Holmes, Washington and Lee,
So.
Holmes, a sophomore from Raleigh,
N.C., wins her second straight weekly award after helping W&L
to a dual meet win over Mary Washington and a victory at the ODAC
Relays hosted by Washington and Lee. Holmes won three individual
events against UMW, touching the wall first in the 200-yard
(1:57.34), 500-yard (5:15.70) and 1000-yard (10:48.57) freestyle
events. She also helped her teammates to wins in the 200-yard
medley relay in 1:42.44, which set a new Cy Twombly Pool record. At
the ODAC Relays, Holmes competed in four events, aiding to
victories in the 8x25-yard freestyle (1:38.30), 500-yard freestyle
(4:49.43), 200-yard medley (1:52.45), and 200-yard freestyle
(1:41.31) relays.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Julia Baca, Bridgewater, Jr.,
Forward
Baca, a junior from Mount Airy, Md.,
helped the Eagles to a pair of big conference wins last week that
catapulted BC into a tie for second place in the league standings.
Baca scored the second goal in a 2-0 road win at Shenandoah
University during the midweek. Over the weekend, she opened the
Eagles' scorebook against Virginia Wesleyan with a strike from the
top of the box in the ninth. BC added two more insurance goals in
the second half on the way to a 3-0 triumph. Baca is third in the
ODAC with 33 points and 15 goals scored.

VOLLEYBALL
Jordan Templin, Randolph, Sr., Outside
Hitter
Templin, a senior from Ferrum, Va.,
registered 6.5 kills per set in two ODAC wins last week, adding 52
kills to her league-leading totals. Templin opened her week with 23
kills, nine digs and a block in a 3-1 win over Guilford. The next
day, she upped the ante with 29 winners, 13 digs, three blocks and
two assists in a 3-1 victory over Emory & Henry She had just
one error in the contest on the way to a .622 attack percentage.
The 29 kills mark a new Randolph program record and are the
second-most by an ODAC player this season. It also marks her fourth
match of at least 20 kills this year, tied for tops in the
conference. For the week, Templin was responsible for 56 points at
a 7.0 per set clip, hitting .431 with 22 total digs. She currently
leads the ODAC with 366 kills and is second at 3.94 kills per
set.

CROSS COUNTRY
Ryan Gehman, Eastern Mennonite,
Sr.
Gehman, a senior from Millersville,
Pa., helped EMU to an eighth place team showing at the Gettysburg
Invitational by placing second overall in a field of 355 runners.
He finished the eight-kilometer course with a time of 25:49.4, six
seconds behind the winner from Lebanon Valley College.

CROSS COUNTRY
Kat Lehman, Eastern Mennonite,
Fr.
Lehman, a freshman from Dover, Ohio,
helped the Royals to a seventh place team showing out of 35 squads
at the Gettysburg Invitational. She finshed fifth overall and tops
among NCAA Division III competitors, completing the six-kilometer
course in 23:11.4. The top four places went to a trio from D-I
Bucknell and one from D-II Alderson-Broaddus.
