Quakers Finish Ninth at NCAA's
May 13, 2011Guilford College finished in ninth place at the 2011 NCAA Division III Golf Championships, marking the program's second straight impressive showing in the national tournament. Noah Ratner (pictured) was GC's top individual as he finished 11th at 292, making him a First Team All-American. -
NCAA Releases Championships Field
May 02, 2011The NCAA Divsioin III Golf Championships field is set with the announcement of the at-large teams and individuals joining the 28 automatic qualifiers. Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C., will lends its East and West courses to a field of 205 golfers, including Guilford College and Bridgewater College's Mike Redwood. -
VWC Selects Stewart as Golf Coach
April 27, 2011For the first time in the 42-year history of the VWC golf program, the Marlins will be mentored by a veteran member of the PGA. Phil Stewart comes to the VWC program after serving as the Head Golf Professional at several Va. Beach area courses, including Red Wing Lake, Bow Creek, Stumpy Lake, and Kempsville Greens. -
GC Takes Home Three Top Golf Awards
April 19, 2011GC's Noah Ratner was selected as the ODAC Player the Year, while head coach Corey Maggard earned the inaugural Jack Jensen Coach of the Year Award. Alex Wise was chosen as the Rookie of the Year. BC's Mike Redwood corralled both of the remaining honors, garnering the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award and the Ted Keller Sportsman accolade. -
Guilford Wins 11th ODAC Golf Title
April 19, 2011Guilford posted a 300 team score in the third round of the ODAC Golf Championship on Tuesday morning and afternoon to claim its 11th conference title. Bridgewater's Mike Redwood became the first back-to-back ODAC individual champion with an eagle on 18 to secure a final round 67. -

Quakers Extend Lead After Round 2
April 18, 2011All but one school improved upon its round one scores on Monday afternoon as Guilford fired a 294 team score to extend its lead to 15 strokes following the second round of the 2011 ODAC Golf Tournament. Bridgewater's Tod Foshee (pictured) carded the event's only sub-par round, chiming in with a 1-under 71 to lead BC to a 293 score, best of round two. -
Quakers Lead by Four After First Round
April 17, 2011Guilford posted a 15-over-par team score of 303 to top the leaderboard following the first round of play at the 2011 ODAC Golf Championships. The Quakers, ranked No. 1 in the country, lead Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon by four strokes after both teams fired rounds of 307. R-MC's Max Wyndorf tops the individual standings after an opening round 72. -

Guilford Wins O'Briant-Jensen Memorial
October 26, 2010Guilford rallied to win its third O'Briant-Jensen Memorial Golf Tournament Tuesday afternoon. The Quakers swept the top-two places and had three golfers among the top-13 finishers in the 90-student field. Methodist took second in the 17-team field. Greensboro placed third. Greensboro’s B team shared fourth place with Bridgewater and King College. -

Guilford Wins Greensboro-Gordin Classic
October 12, 2010Guilford College posted rounds of 292 and 299 to win the Greensboro-Gordin Classic by five strokes on Monday. Played on the East Course at Grandover Resort, the Quakers' Noah Ratner finished third overall at even-par, just one shot off the lead. Bridgewater also competed in the event and finished 14th out of 18 teams. -

W&L's Gavrich Tops Va. Intercollegiate
October 10, 2010Randolph-Macon and Roanoke tied atop the team standings at the 2010 Virginia State Intercollegiate over the weekend on the Stoney Creek Golf Course at Wintergreen Resort. Roanoke earned the team win via a playoff. Washington and Lee's Tim Gavrich (pictured) fired a pair of 1-under rounds of 70 to win the individual medal by four strokes. -

Guilford, BC's Gahman Win Ted Keller
October 04, 2010Guilford, ranked seventh in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Coaches' Poll, won the 2010 Ted Keller Memorial at Hunting Hawk Golf Course in Glen Allen, Va. Bridgewater's Travis Gahman won individual medalist by shooting 4-under for the tournament, the only player to finish under par. He fired rounds of 68 and 72 on the par 72 course. -
ODAC Players of the Week: Sept. 27
September 27, 2010ODAC standings began to take shape as the fall season played through the fourth week of action. LC field hockey scored a major non-conference win with a 2-1 triumph over nationally top-ranked Messiah. Lindsay Leonard tallied both goals. EMU's Richy Bikko won his second cross country race at the Maroon Invitational, earning his second weekly honor. -

September 20, 2010Golf joined the fall sports roundup for the first time as ODAC competition kicked into action throughout the league. Performance continues to remain on-high, including a 12-point showing in field hockey from R-MC's Mary McCarthy, a second straight in cross country for W&L's Lauren Schultz, and more from each of the ODAC's fall sports. -
R-MC Wins Shenandoah Invitational
September 14, 2010Randolph-Macon started the 2010-11 golf season on the right foot with a first place finish at the Shenandoah Invitational over the weekend. The Yellow Jackets carded a 610 two-round total to finish 34-over-par and eight shots clear of second place Potomac State. R-MC's Max Wyndorf (75-68) won the individual title. -
Dr. Smith Tabbed to Coach LC Golf
July 30, 2010The Lynchburg athletic department announced Friday that Dr. Stephen P. Smith will take over the Hornet golf program next season. Former head mentor Dr. Bill Kuchler announced his retirement from active coaching this spring after five seasons directing the program. He will stay with the College, continuing as an associate professor of sports management.
