2019 Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

  • Kevin Rogers, Lynchburg, Jr., Midfielder
    April 29, 2019
    Rogers, a junior from Leesburg, Va., extending his scoring stream to 30 straight games dating back to March 17, 2018, with an eight-point week in the Hornets' 2-0 showing in ODAC play. Rogers opened with two goals in a 21-5 road win at Guilford College. He followed up with a six-point day in a 20-10 triumph over Hampden-Sydney to close the regular season and wrap up the second seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. Rogers scored five goals and dished out an assist in addition to causing four turnovers and picking up a pair of ground balls. It marked his sixth game of five or more points this season. It also matched his career-high for goals scored in a game, pairing this five-goal outburst with the five tallies he registered against Dickinson in the NCAA Tournament to cap the 2018 season.
  • A.J. Witherell, Washington and Lee, Sr., Attackman
    April 22, 2019
    Witherell, a senior from Wilmington, Del., helped lead Washington and Lee to a pair of ODAC victories including an overtime triumph over nationally 20th-ranked Lynchburg. The week started for the 17th-ranked Generals at Virginia Wesleyan. Witherell scored twice and dished out two assists in a 15-5 win. He added three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Witherell then went for three points on a goal and two assists, including the game-winning helper in overtime, for a 10-9 triumph over Lynchburg. He chipped in four ground balls to the effort. For the season, Witherell is fifth in the ODAC in points (60) and assists (27) to go with 33 goals scored. He is currently fourth all-time in ODAC history with 294 career points. His 178 goals and 116 assists rank seventh and sixth, respectively, in the conference record books.
  • Brendan Markovic, Randolph-Macon, Jr., Midfielder
    April 15, 2019
    Markovic, a junior from Westminster, Md., put together a 10-point week as he led Randolph-Macon to a pair of key conference victories as the close to the season draws near. Markovic opened with three goals and three assists to go with a ground ball in the Yellow Jackets 17-5 road victory at Randolph. He scored his three goals on just four shots, each of which were directed on-net. Markovic followed with two goals and two assists in addition to a pair of ground balls in a 13-6 triumph again on the road at Shenandoah. That victory improved R-MC's ODAC record to 5-2 and fourth in the standings with three league games left to play. On the season, Markovic has posted a team-best 45 points on 26 goals and 19 assists. He is 10th in the conference with four man-up goals.
  • Eric Husselbaugh, Bridgewater, So., Attackman

    Husselbaugh, a sophomore from Annapolis, Md., put together a career week in leading Bridgewater to a pair of must-win games with the ODAC Tournament looming a few weeks away. Husselbaugh registered 19 points over two conference victories with 13 goals and five assists. He opened with seven goals and two helpers in a 15-14 triumph at Shenandoah. He added a ground ball and a caused turnover to his line. He again went for nine points in the Eagles 16-8 victory over Virginia Wesleyan. He scored six times and dished out a trio of assists to go with four ground balls and a caused turnover. For the season, Husselbaugh third in the ODAC in points (62) and second in goals scored (42). He recorded his 100th career point this past week in just short of two full seasons at BC.
  • A.J. Witherell, Washington and Lee, Sr., Attackman
    April 01, 2019
    Witherell, a senior from Wilmington, Del., helped lead the Generals to a pair of ODAC victories during the week. He totaled seven goals and eight assists for 15 points, and also tallied seven ground balls and three caused turnovers. On Wednesday in a 23-4 win over Guilford, Witherell produced a career-high 11 points on four goals and a career-best seven assists. During Saturday's 13-8 win over Roanoke, Witherell notched three goals and one assist. For the season, Witherell is third in the ODAC in points (48) on 26 goals and an ODAC second-best 22 assists despite missing two games due to injury. Witherell currently has 282 career points, just nine away from breaking the W&L all-time record and only 19 points away from moving into second on the ODAC's career scoring list.
  • Jason Sarro, Roanoke, Jr., Attackman
    March 25, 2019
    Sarro, a junior from Baltimore, Md., picked up a pair of wins on the road last week with a 14-point play-making performance. Sarro opened with three goals and three assists in a 20-8 triumph at Mary Washington. He added five ground balls and scored his goals on just seven shots with five on-target. Sarro then upped the ante in a 17-8 victory at Guilford. He scored five times and dished out a trio of assists to go with two ground balls. He fired 11 shots towards the Quakers' cage, all on-target. For the season, Sarro leads the ODAC in points (51) and assists (26) and is tied for fourth in goals scored (25).
  • Peter Lindley, Roanoke, Sr., Attackman
    March 18, 2019
    Lindley, a senior from Darien, Conn., put together a record-setting week in helping Roanoke to a pair of victories. Lindley led off with five goals and an assist in a 17-10 non-conference triumph over Kenyon. He added three ground balls to his line. Lindley then tied the ODAC record of 14 points in a game set by former Maroon Andy Bonasera in 2001 as Roanoke defeated Virginia Wesleyan, 27-13. Lindley tied a Maroons standard with 10 goals to go with four assists. He chipped in three ground balls and a caused turnover. For the season, Lindley leads the ODAC in points (38) and goals scored (30).
  • Ryan Schott, Shenandoah, Sr., Attackman
    March 11, 2019
    Schott, a senior from Stafford, Va., helped lead the Hornets to a pair of victories last week including a conference road victory at Guilford. Schott opened the week with three goals and an assist in a 19-7 victory over Alvernia. He picked up one ground ball and was efficient with his scoring, netting his three goals on four shots. His efficiency ticked up further in an 18-8 triumph at Guilford as he scored three times on three shots. He also dished out three assists to give him six points for the game and 10 for the week. He added three ground balls to his line. For the season, Schott is tied for third in the ODAC in points (25) and tied for second in goals scored (17). His eight assists are just outside the ODAC's top-five.
  • Prince Charles, Randolph, Sr., Midfielder
    March 04, 2019
    Charles, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va., stuffed the stat sheet in leading Randolph to a 1-1 showing last week. Charles opened with two goals and two assists in a 9-7 victory over SUNY Delhi. He went 9-of-12 in face-off attempts and picked up six ground balls. Charles was equally as efficient in the WildCats 11-7 setback to Methodist, winning 11-of-15 on the face-off with 11 ground balls. He scored two goals and dished out an assist on a third while causing a pair of turnovers. For the season, Charles has racked up 10 points on five goals and five assists. He is 52-of-69 (.754) on face-offs with 42 ground balls.
  • Jake O'Brien, Hampden-Sydney, So., Attack
    February 25, 2019
    O'Brien, a sophomore from Scituate, Mass., picks up his second weekly award after helping Hampden-Sydney to a 1-1 week. O'Brien opened with two goals and assist to go with four ground balls and a caused turnover in a 9-8 overtime win at Catholic. It was his tally off a feed from Jared Medwar with 1:47 on the overtime clock that sealed the win for H-SC. O'Brien was back at it on the weekend as he scored a team-best three goals to go with three ground balls in a 12-9 setback to nationally 16th-ranked Christopher Newport. For the season, O'Brien leads the ODAC with 12 goals scored and is tied for second with 14 points.
  • Nathan Sheirburn, Virginia Wesleyan, So., Attack/Midfielder
    February 18, 2019
    Sheirburn, a sophomore from Pittsville, Md., put together a banner day as a do-it-all player for the Marlins in their 22-7 victory over Greensboro College on Saturday. Sheirburn scored a career-high four goals on four shots and dished out an assist to rack up a career-best five points. He more than doubled his ground ball total with 15 pickups. He was afforded that many opportunities thanks to a stellar showing at the face-off. He won a personal-best 19-of-24 restarts for a .792 face-off percentage.
  • Jake O'Brien, Hampden-Sydney, So., Attack
    February 11, 2019
    O'Brien, a sophomore from Scituate, Mass., helped the Tigers open the season with a 14-7 home victory over Mary Washington on Saturday. O'Brien put together a career game in all offensive statistical categories. He finished with six points and five goals and an assist. He scored his five goals on 10 total shots and six on goal. O'Brien also picked up three ground balls.
