LC Alum Returns to the ODAC
LYNCHBURG, Va. --- Randolph College Director of
Athletics Tina Hill has named Caroline Cubbage as the new
WildCat head softball coach Tuesday.
“We’re excited to have Coach Cubbage join our
team,” said Hill. “She brings with her tremendous
knowledge and skill in the sport and a familiarity of the ODAC and
the region that will serve us well. We’ve made great strides
in the development of our program in recent years and under her
leadership we’re poised to take our program to the next
level.”
Cubbage comes to the College after spending one season at
NAIA’s Concordia University in Seward, NE. While at the helm
of the Bulldogs, Cubbage led CU to a 24-18 overall record with a
12-12 mark in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, earning a berth
in the postseason conference tournament.
“I am thrilled to join the rapidly growing Randolph College
athletic department,” said Cubbage. She added, “The
ODAC was an excellent place to spend my collegiate softball career
and I am now excited to continue my coaching career in such a well
respected conference. I felt a rejuvenated spirit while visiting
the campus of Randolph College and am eager to continue building a
successful softball program.”
The Bridgewater, VA native also served as a graduate assistant
coach at Ball State University in Muncie, IN for two seasons, where
she earned her Master’s Degree in Sport Administration in
2009. While at BSU, she assisted with the offense and was also
in-charge of the academic progress of all of the
student-athletes.
Caroline Cubbage is no stranger to the Old Dominion Athletic
Conference (ODAC), as she was a three-time Division III
All-American at nearby Lynchburg College, twice earning ODAC Player
of the Year honors. She held a career .458 batting average, while
sporting 12 individual records at Lynchburg and two ODAC records,
including homers (38) and on-base percentage (.563). Cubbage
graduated from Lynchburg with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport
Management in 2007.
Cubbage replaces former head coach Jen Steele, who helped produce a
21-win season and the ODAC’s best hitting squad in 2010,
along with the WildCat’s second consecutive league tournament
appearance.
