THE LEAD: Roanoke College scored three times in the first inning and cruised thereafter in a 3-0 shutout over Misericordia University in their opening contest of regional play in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship on Thursday.
THE BASICS

HIGHLIGHTS
- Meri Bost led off the top of the first with a single to center field. Morgan Clark followed with a double down the right field line to put runners on second and third. Bostic would score on a throwing error made by the right fielder. With runners in scoring position Molly Epperson hit a line drive single into center field which scored a run. Adriana Rivera would score off a fielder's choice hit from Kate Houle.
- Makayla Austin, Bostic, and Epperson went 2 for 3.
UP NEXT: Roanoke will play their second round of the Regional Tournament against host Christopher Newport on Friday 5/18 at 2:30 p.m. The winner will advance to the regional final on Saturday with the loser to take on the 12 p.m. elimination game winner at 5 p.m.
