NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --- The Virginia Wesleyan University softball team (38-12) lost 3-1 to Christopher Newport University in game one of the NCAA DIII Softball Super Regionals.
The Captains jumped out to an 3-0 lead scoring one in the second inning and two unearned runs in the fifth inning.
The Marlins fought back hitting a solo home run from Alison Pollack in the top of the sixth to cut the lead down to 3-1.
Lauren Bible pitched 6.0 innings, allowed five hits, one earned run, and tallied three strikeouts.
Alison Pollack went 1-for-3 with a home run and Julia Piotrowski went 1-for-2.
Virginia Wesleyan will play game two against Christopher Newport on Saturday, May 27 at 10 AM.
