BRITTANEY BROWN, Virginia Wesleyan, Senior, Pitcher

Brown, a senior from Chesapeake, Va., picked up three more pitching wins in a 4-0 week for the Marlins to reach 20 wins for the third consecutive season, unprecedented in VWC history.  She pitched two shutouts in the three games, increasing her season total to nine.  She tossed a one-hitter in an 11-2 win over EMU and struck out a combined 23 batters in the three games.  Brown has fanned 165 batters this season and has improved her ERA to 0.76, well ahead of VWC’s single-season record.

Softball Pitcher Honor Roll

Jessica Burcham, Guilford, Sophomore
Burcham went 2-1 in four appearances with a save, 13 strikeouts and a 3.50 ERA in 14.0 innings… threw her team-leading seventh complete-game and fanned eight in the Quakers’ 8-2 win over Lynchburg… the win marked her team-leading 10th of the season… threw a perfect seventh inning to pick up the save in Guilford’s 12-9 win over Randolph, the school-record fourth of her career… struck out three and earned the win in a four-inning appearance versus Emory & Henry.

Shelbie West, Randolph, Freshman
West was excellent in the circle in her two relief appearance during the week, going 2 1/3 innings not allowing a run on two hits at Guilford to secure the 8-4 victory picking-up the save. West would enter in the first inning at Roanoke, and shut down the Maroons bats throughout allowing just one run (unearned) on two hits posting the conference win.
