Rainey, a junior from Sandston, Va., was nearly perfection at the dish in Maroons 6-0 week as she provided offense in every way possible. She went 16-for-21 (.727) with four three-hit games and two in the remaining two contests. She knocked two doubles, a pair of triples, and cleared the fences twice while scoring 16 runs and driving in 11 others. She was also a terror with her legs as she stole 12 bases including three in a game three times. For the season, Rainey is hitting .471 (24-for-51) with 25 runs scored, 21 RBI and 19 stolen bases.
Softball Honor Roll
Kasey Anderson, Bridgewater, Sophomore, 2nd
Base
Anderson hit at a .428 clip (12-of-28), scored nine runs and
drove in three more to pace the Eagles to a 7-1 week at the Rebel
Games. Anderson also swiped nine bases on the week and scored the
game-winning run in Bridgewater’s 1-0 victory over
tenth-ranked Coast Guard. The sophomore leads the Eagles on the
season with a .472 batting average.
Lisa Lee, Eastern Mennonite, Senior, 3rd
Base/Pitcher
Lee was in fine form in her four games at the Roanoke Valley
Softball Bash over the weekend, batting .692 with a couple of
homeruns and eight runs scored. She was 9-for-13 from the
plate, adding five RBIs and three doubles, along with two walks and
two stolen bases. For the week, Lee had a slugging percentage
of 1.385 and an on-base percentage of .733.
Kimberly Keys, Guilford, Senior, Outfielder
Keyls hit a team-high .450 with two doubles and three RBI in the
Quakers’ 4-2 week… extended her hitting streak to
12… had two hits in a loss to Greensboro… went
three-for-three with an RBI in a five-inning win over Mary
Baldwin… became Guilford’s career leader (107) with an
RBI in the eighth inning of the Quakers’ nine-inning triumph
over previously unbeaten Penn State-Altoona.
Brittany Willingham, Randolph, Junior,
Outfielder
Willingham hit .682 on the week, going 15-for-22, driving in six
runs and doubling twice. In a doubleheader sweep of Castleton, she
was a combined eight-for-eight in the doubleheader. She is 13 for
her last 15, and has improved her battling average over 180 points
over the stretch. She also was successful on both stolen base
attempts and has yet to make an error on the season. She also
scored nine runs for Randolph over the six games.
Sharese Jarvis, Randolph-Macon, Freshman,
Shortstop
Jarvis finished the week 11-for-18 at the plate over six games,
driving in nine runs and hitting two homeruns, including the
eventual game-winner on Sunday. The freshman added five
doubles and four runs scored.
Tori Higginbotham, Virginia Wesleyan, Sophomore,
Outfielder
Higginbotham helped VWC to a 4-0 week in conference action by going
8-for-11 from the dish with four doubles, three homers and four
runs batted in. She also scored nine runs and stole three
bases. She had a pair of the 3-for-4 efforts against Emory
& Henry, each featuring two doubles and homer for the Marlins
centerfielder.
