Ashley Ebersole, Emory & Henry, Sr., Catcher

Ebersole, a senior from Maurertown, Va., had an explosion of power during the Wasps' 5-3 spring break trip.  She posted a 1.500 slugging percentage as she belted four doubles and six home runs on the way to driving in 20 runs.  She had a pair of grand slams in a 22-0 thumping of Penn St.-Fayette, finishing that game 4-for-4 with four runs scored, a double and eight RBI in addition to the duo of four-run blasts.  Ebersole hit safely in all eight games, posting three multi-hit contests.  She also had a double-homer game in a 10-0 win over Green Mountain.  On the week, Ebersole hit .583 (14-of-24) with 13 runs scored and a .607 on-base percentage.

Softball Player Honor Roll

Casey Racer, East. Mennonite - (Fr, 2B - Madison, VA, 24)
Racer batted .500 with a team-high 10 RBI in EMU's 5-1 week. The freshman highlighted her string of clutch hits with a bases loaded triple against No. 18 Salisbury, pushing EMU's lead to 5-1. Racer hit safely in all six of EMU's games this week, going 10-for-20 with five runs scored. She hit two doubles, two triples and a homer, pushing her slugging percentage for the week to .950.

Cynthia Hayes, Guilford - (Jr, IF - Seagrove, N.C., 10)
Hayes went 5-for-5 in a double-header sweep of Mary Baldwin.  She had a double and a pair of RBI among her efforts, which also included a Guilford-record two steals in game one.

Danielle Powell, Lynchburg - (Fr, 3B/UT - Vinton, VA, 11)
Powell led LC to a 6-2 week last week, hitting .360 with five doubles. She scored four times and drove in eight runs, slugging .560 for the week.  She had a hit in all but two of the contests, including a trio of two-hit efforts.  She had three RBI each in wins over Gettysburg (5-1) and Salisbury (6-4).

Patti Vinson, Randolph - (So, IF - Williamsburg, NC, 17)
Vinson had at least one hit in all but one of the 10 games Randolph played this week, helping the WildCats to a 9-1 showing. Overall, she hit .455 on the week with two doubles while driving in 13 runs. She posted a RBI in six games this week and scored eight runs. She hit .600 (9-15) with runners in scoring position, and also added five hits and six RBI with runners in scoring position with two out. She also committed only one error in 21 total chances at third base.

Katie Woody, Randolph-Macon - (Fr, - , 10)
Woody helped Randolph-Macon to a 3-0 weekend with five hits in nine at bats.  She also drove in four runs and scored twice.  Her big hit of the weekend came in the bottom of the eighth with the Yellow Jackets trailing, 3-2, to Wilkes University. She blasted a two run, walk-off homerun to give R-MC its second win of the weekend.

Alea Bier, Roanoke - (Sr, - Bent Mountain, VA, 4)
Bier added to her .500 batting average with a 6-for-12 showing in a 3-1 week for the Maroons.  She smacked four doubles and scored six runs.  She also swiped a pair of bases.

Tori Higginbotham, Va. Wesleyan - (Jr, OF - , 11)
Higginbotham helped VWC to a 4-2 week, including a 4-0 showing in the Sea Gull Invitational. She hit at a .444 clip, recording eight hits, including a home run, in 18 times at bat. She walked only twice and scored six runs. Defensively, she recorded eight putouts. Higginbotham ranks second for the Marlins at the plate with a .471 batting average and leads the team with 16 RBI, five home runs and 16 stolen bases. VWC is now 12-4.
