Phillips, a junior from Ashburn, Va., busted out of a season-long dry spell to help the Hornets to a 6-0 week that included ODAC sweeps of Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan in addition to a pair of wins over Averett. Phillips had four multi-hit games as she went 10-for-18 (.556) on the week with three homers, four runs scored and eight runs batted in. She went 4-for-7 in 6-1 and 7-6 wins over Averett. In 7-1 and 8-6 wins over R-MC, Phillips went 3-for-5 with a walk and a two-run homer to left field in game two. She provided all but one of LC’s runs in game one against Virginia Wesleyan as she went 2-for-3 with both hits leaving the yard, one a grand slam and the other a solo shot in the 6-1 LC triumph. She added another hit in a 3-2 in game two. Phillips has now hit in eight straight games, helping LC to 13 wins in their last 14 games.
Softball Player Honor Roll
Aven Thomas, Bridgewater (Va.)

Thomas had a hit in each of eight games played this week as she
helped lead Eagles to an 8-0 mark on the diamond. Thomas hit at a
.464 clip and belted three homers and five doubles while scoring 11
runs and driving in 12. She had four multi-hit efforts, including a
3-for-5 day in game two against Emory & Henry where she doubled
twice and hit a solo homer. She also hit homers against Sweet
Briar and Eastern Mennonite as Bridgewater swept twinbills from the
Vixens (9-0 and 18-0), Royals (8-0 and 11-7), Southern Virginia
(5-2 and 11-6) and the Wasps (8-0, 14-6).
Brooke Hensley, East. Mennonite - (Jr,
SS - Elkton, VA, 2)
Hensley went 7-for-18 (.467) helped EMU to a 2-2 week that
included a double-header sweep of Emory & Henry and a pair of
setbacks to cross-town rival Bridgewater. Hensley had a
double and blasted two homers on the week, which also included six
runs scored and five RBI. Her two homers came as part of a
4-for-4 day with four RBI and three runs scored in a 10-8 game one
win over E&H.
Cynthia Hayes, Guilford - (Jr, IF -
Seagrove, N.C., 10)
Hayes recorded a hit from all but three at-bats as she went
10-for-13 in Guilford sweeps of Salem College (9-1, 16-4) and Sweet
Briar (9-1, 11-0). She also collected seven RBI and scored
eight runs. She was 3-for-3 with three RBI in the second game
against SBC, and had a four-run three-RBI outing as part of a
3-for-4 showing with two doubles in game two against Salem.
Sharese Jarvis, Randolph-Macon - (So, SS
- Cobbs Creek, VA / Matthews, 11)
Jarvis was not short on power over the past week as all nine of
her hits (9-for-23) went for extra bases. She had a double,
triple and seven homers to go with 19 RBI and nine runs scored in a
4-2 week that included sweeps of Sweet Briar and Randolph.
She had three homers and 10 RBI against SBC, and added two more
big-flies and four RBI in the second game against Randolph.
She had two homers in each game of a double-header loss to
Lynchburg, hitting a solo shot in a 7-1 setback in game one and a
grand slam in an 8-6 loss in game two.
Stephanie Clark, Roanoke - (Jr, UTL -
Nathalle, VA, 5)
Clark helped Roanoke to a 7-1 record last week by hitting .333
(8-for-24) with two doubles, two homers, three runs scored and 12
RBI. She had three multi-hit games, including three hits in
game one of a pair of 10-0 wins over Sweet Briar. She belted
one homer in each of two wins over E&H, collecting a pair of
RBI in the 11-2 and 8-1 victories. She had three RBI as part
of a 2-for-4 day in game one of a sweep against
Shenandoah.
