Mary Shipp, Virginia Wesleyan, Jr., Pitcher

Shipp, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va., won twice in her first two starts of the Marlins weather-delayed season.  She helped the Marlins top N.C. Wesleyan, 7-0, by tossing six scoreless frames of one-hit ball.  She walked one and fanned four to post her first win of the season.  She quickly moved to 2-0 by going the distance in an 8-2 win over fifth-ranked Christopher Newport.  She gave up two runs, one earned, on five hits in seven innings.  She walked one and struck out six captains.

Softball Pitcher Honor Roll

Brianna Cox, Bridgewater (Jr. - Bumpass, Va.)
Cox hurled six scoreless innings to lead BC to a 3-1 win over Penn College.  She gave up five hits and walked two while striking out a half-dozen.

Courtney Lackey, Guilford (Fr. - North Wilkesboro, N.C.)
Lackey entered in relief in the Quakers 6-3 loss to Salem, going 4.2 innings.  She gave up one run on four hits with three strikeouts.

Nelda Bagley, Randolph-Macon (Fr. - Kenbridge, Va.)
Bagley went the distance in the Yellow Jackets 3-2 win over Frostburg State, picking up her first collegiate win.  She gave up two runs, one earned, on two hits with three walks and nine punchouts in a full seven frames.
