LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The Lynchburg College
women's basketball team and Special Olympics Virginia partnered
together Friday, February 3 to host two Special Olympics teams at
the LC women's basketball home game that evening. The Hornets
raised $114.10 in donations during the event.
During halftime of the game against cross-town rival Randolph
College, Special Olympians from Campbell County and Lynchburg
faced-off in a half-court basketball game. The athletes showcased
their skills and talents in front of the Lynchburg crowd at
intermission of LC’s 57-37 victory over the WildCats.
Special Olympics Virginia is a year-round program of sports
training and athletic competition for children and adults with
intellectual disabilities. The organization serves more than 15,000
athletes through seven regional offices and 30 area programs.
Special Olympics is also an advocacy organization for people with
intellectual disabilities.
