ODAC Players of the Week

FOOTBALL
Anthony Albanese, Catholic, Sr.,
Defensive End
Albanese, a senior from Long Valley,
N.J., led a dominating defensive effort by Catholic as the
Cardinals forced two turnovers and held Shenandoah to just 199
yards of total offense, including 90 yards thru the air, in a 37-7
road win. Albanese led the Cardinals with 11 total tackles
including five solo stops. He was in the Hornets' backfield for
much of the afternoon, racking up 3.5 tackles for a loss that cost
SU 15 yards of offense. Included in that total was a quarterback
sack to end the first half of play. He had two other stops of no
gain, bringing his totals to six defensive plays where SU either
lost or did not gain any yards. Albanese is currently #1 in the
ODAC with seven sacks, which have cost opposing offenses a
league-high 57 yards of offense. His 26 solo tackles are fifth in
the league, while his 42 total stops rank 10th.

FOOTBALL
Will McGhee, Randolph-Macon, Sr., Running
Back
McGhee, a senior from Fishersville,
Va., picks up his second weekly award as he accounted for all four
Randolph-Macon touchdowns in the Yellow Jackets' 27-21 triumph over
Washington and Lee. McGhee ran for 189 yards on 31 carries, good
enough for a 6.1 yard-per-carry average. He opened the game's
scoring on R-MC's first drive with a 40-yard scamper. He made it
14-0 Jackets late in the second frame with a 16-yard burst. His
third score was a 6-yard effort midway thru the third quarter for a
21-7 R-MC advantage. After W&L posted two touchdowns to knot
the game at 21-all, McGhee capped an 11-play 66-yard drive with a
3-yard TD run with 3:26 to play to provide Randolph-Macon its
winning margin. He accounted for 44 of the 66 yards on that drive.
McGhee leads the ODAC with 1,006 rushing yards, needing just six
games to become the first ODAC back to crack 1,000 yards this
season.

FIELD HOCKEY
Abby Bunting, Lynchburg, Fr.,
Attack
Bunting, a freshman from Pocomoke
City, Md., helped the Hornets to a trio of wins over the past week,
including ODAC victories over Sweet Briar and Virginia Wesleyan.
Bunting, who notched four goals on the week, opened with one goal
in a 7-1 triumph at home against the Vixens. She followed that with
the second and third goals in a 4-2 non-conference win over Centre
College. She capped her week with a tally in a 7-1 win at home
against the Marlins. Bunting has notched 11 points on the season
with five goals and one assist.

GOLF
Tanner Gross, Guilford,
Fr.
Gross, a freshman from Archdale, N.C.,
picks up his second weekly award after leading Guilford to a fourth
place team finish at the Golfweek Fall Invitational in Sandestin,
Fla. Gross posted Guilford's low score of the tournament, which
boasted eight of the top 20-teams in the country competing on the
par 71, 6,505-yard layout at Raven Golf Club. Gross finished in a
tie for eighth with a 2-over par 215 (70-75-70). He posted 1-under
rounds of 70 on the first and last days, leading the Quakers to a
871 team score in the 18-squad event. Gross is currently second in
the ODAC with a 72.6 per round stroke average.

GOLF
Olivia Bowling, Randolph-Macon,
So.
Bowling, a sophomore from Charlotte
Hall, Md., earned medalist honors at the Bridgewater Invitational
last week. She posted an 11-over par total of 155 with rounds of 81
and 74 at Lakeview Golf Course in Harrisonburg. Her total tied with
Elizabeth Cheng from Hollins for the top spot, but Bowling was
award first place on tiebreakers. Her efforts helped lead
Randolph-Macon to the team title with a score of 695. Bowling
currently leads the ODAC with a 77.8 per round stroke average.

MEN'S SOCCER
Josh Kemp, Virginia Wesleyan, So.,
Midfielder
Kemp, a sophomore from Frisco, Texas,
picks up his second weekly award of the season after helping
Virginia Wesleyan to a pair of ODAC wins over Lynchburg (1-0) and
Roanoke (2-1). Kemp notched both goals in the rematch of last
year's ODAC title game at Roanoke. He opened the scoring in the
18th minute with a rifle shot from 20-yards that went in off the
underside of the crossbar. He notched his second tally with 47
seconds remaining in the second overtime period and his near post
run met a cross by Isaac Arrington to secure the double-overtime
win. Kemp has 15 points on six goals and three assists this
season.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Tricia Jessee, Washington and Lee, Fr.,
Forward
Jessee, a freshman from Roanoke, Va.,
helped the Generals to a pair of ODAC wins over Guilford (5-0) and
Sweet Briar (10-0), helped W&L remain unbeaten at 9-0 in ODAC
play. She scored twice at Guilford and followed that with her first
career hat-trick in the win at Sweet Briar. Jessee has 15 points on
seven goals and an assist this season.

SWIMMING
Emily Rollo, Washington and Lee,
Fr.
Rollo, a freshman from Haddonfield,
N.J., posted two individual victories in the Generals dual match
against Mary Washington and then aided in three first place and two
second place relays at the ODAC Relays on Saturday. Against Mary
Washington, Rollo placed first in the 100-yard and 200-yard
backstrokes, touching the wall in 1:02.78 and 2:14.38,
respectively. She also placed second in the 200-yard IM (2:16.99)
and was a member of the 200-yard medley relay that placed fourth
(1:55.82). At the ODAC Relays, she swam the last leg of the
150-yard backstroke relay that finished first (1:24.92) and was the
third leg in the 100-yard dolphin kick relay that touched the wall
first and was the only squad under one minute (56.18). Rollo led
off the 300-yard IM relay that clocked in first in a time of
3:10.40. She was also a member of the 400-yard free relay (3:42.81)
and the 150-yard butterfly relay(1:22.31) teams that captured
second place.

VOLLEYBALL
Megann Grimes, Bridgewater, Jr., Middle
Hitter
Grimes, a junior from Midland, Va.,
picks up her second weekly award after helping lead Bridgewate to a
3-0 week, including a pair of ODAC wins over Shenandoah (3-0) and
Washington and Lee (3-0). Grimes hit .643 on the week with 28 kills
against just one error to go with 11 blocks and five digs from her
middle position. She notched 12 kills and six blocks against
Shenandoah, and then followed that with 11 winners and five blocks
against the Generals. Grimes currently leads the ODAC in blocks
solos (27) and total blocks (97), is second in attack percentage
(.305) and third in total kills (271).

CROSS COUNTRY
Andris Goncarovs, Guilford,
Sr.
Goncarovs, a senior from Ithaca, N.Y.,
was the first NCAA Division III finisher and placed 23rd overall of
229 runners from all levels of competition at the Blue Ridge Open.
He posted an eight-kilometer time of 25:19.51, marking the fastest
8K time of the season in the ODAC. It ranks as the third-fastest
time in school history. His efforts helped GC to a fifth place of
nine squads in the team standings.

CROSS COUNTRY
Kaylee Kubisiak, Bridgewater,
So.
Kubisiak, a sophomore from
Abbottstown, Pa., placed 44th out of 509 competitors at the
UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in
Wisconsin. Her six-kilometer time of 22:49.15 is the second fastest
in the ODAC this season. The event featured several of the top NCAA
Division III programs in the country, including three in the top-10
of the USTFCCCA's national poll. Kubisiak's efforts helped BC to a
16th place showing in the team standings (456 pts.).
