JAY THOMPSON, Bridgewater, Junior, Third Base

Thompson, a junior from Waynesboro, Va., had a big weekend on the road as the Eagles split a pair of contest against quality competition. Against Cortland St., 2010 D-III runner-up and preseason No. 2 in the nation, Thompson was 4-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and one RBI to help lead the Eagles to a 15-14 victory. In a loss to CNU, Thompson was 3-for-4 with two homers, two runs scored and three RBIs. For the weekend, his batting average was .777 with a slugging percentage of 1.555.

Derek Hardison, Guilford, Senior, Designated Hitter
Hardison hit a team-best ..500 with two doubles and six RBI in Guilford’s 2-1 week, all team-highs… posted a .750 slugging percentage and team-best .636 on-base percentage for the week… had two hits, including a double and three RBI, in both of Guilford’s 9-8 wins over Greensboro (Wed.) and Case Western Reserve (Sun.).

Jordan Walton, Randolph-Macon, Junior, 1st Base
Walton has had a hit in all seven of the Yellow Jackets’ games this season including four in a 15-4 win over North Carolina Wesleyan on Wednesday.  He went 4-for-5 to open the week against N.C. Wesleyan, and one knock in each of the next four games.  He finished 8-for-17 (.471) with three runs scored, two doubles and a pair of RBI.  He also stole a base.

Shayne Paskanik, Virginia Wesleyan, Junior, Outfield
Paskanik extended his early-season hitting streak to six consecutive games, in a four-game week for VWC.  He hit at a .466 clip, highlighted by a 3-for-4 effort in an 8-1 victory over No. 21 Salisbury University.  He also recorded a single against No. 9 Birmingham-Southern, a double against Piedmont and a double and single against Lynchburg.  Paskanik tops VWC hitting with a .478 batting average.
