JODY DAVIS, Washington and Lee, Junior, Pitcher

Davis a junior from McLean, Va., tossed a complete-game shutout in a 5-0 win over No. 17 Tufts.  He allowed just six singles, did not walk a batter and struck out five in finishing his first complete game to improve to 2-1 on the season.  He lowered his earned run average to 6.17 following his best outing of the season.

Baseball Pitcher Honor Roll

Tyler Milstead, Bridgewater, Senior
Milstead picked up a pair of conference victories during the week. Milstead pitched seven innings in a 10-1 win over EMU. He allowed one run on six hits while striking out two and walking one. Milstead pitched 2.2 innings out of the bullpen and picked up a win in an 8-5 10-inning win over Randolph-Macon. He allowed two runs on four hits in 2.2 innings.

Will James, Guilford, Sophomore
James earned the win in Guilford’s 10-1 win over Roanoke College on Tuesday…threw a career-high seven innings, allowing only five hits and one unearned run… held the Maroons to a .200 batting average… fanned a career-high six batters and walked just one.

Dan Nicoll, Hampden-Sydney, Sophomore
Nicoll pitched 6.1 innings allowing two runs as he picked up his second win of the year as his team defeated Emory & Henry. Nicoll faced 29 batters while allowing eight hits, struck out five and walked two. Of his six full innings, Nicoll shutout the Wasp offense in five of them.

Robert Garrett, Lynchburg, Junior
Garrett appeared in three out of the four Lynchburg games last week, pitching a total of seven innings of relief…He pitched three innings in each game of the doubleheader against conference opponent Eastern Mennonite while yielding only one hit in both games combined…Gave up no earned runs last week while striking out five on Saturday…Earned the save in the second game of the doubleheader.

Alex DeJesus, Virginia Wesleyan, Senior
DeJesus worked the most of any VWC pitcher in a 4-2 week, throwing in 14.1 innings that resulted in two VWC victories.  He pitched the first 7.1 innings at Randolph-Macon, where the Marlins emerged with a 9-7 win in 11 innings.  He came back three days later to pitch in 7.0 innings at Roanoke, leading the Marlins to a 2-1 victory.  He scattered just four hits and did not allow an earned run.  He struck out a combined 12 batters in the two games, including seven at Roanoke, his second highest total of the season.  DeJesus is now 3-2 overall and owns a 4.34 ERA.  He leads the pitching staff with 45.2 innings of work and 30 strikeouts overall.
