Dan Nicoll, Hampden-Sydney, Junior Pitcher

Nicoll, a junior from Centreville, Va., opened the 2012 campaign 2-0 with a 5-3 opening day win over Ferrum and a 5-1 victory over Stevenson this past Saturday. Against Ferrum, Nicoll pitched six shutout innings while allowing just three hits. He also struck out five batters while walking just one. In his match up against Stevenson, he allowed one run on four hits in five innings. In his 11 total innings pitched, Nicoll has allowed seven hits, one run and boasts a 0.82 earned run average with eight strikeouts against just two walks.

Baseball Pitcher Honor Roll

Robert Gallet, Bridgewater, Sophomore
Gallet worked six innings to pick up the win against N.C. Wesleyan in his first start of the season. Gallet allowed six hits and one earned run and fanned  six with one walk in the 17-1 victory.

Daniel Stanley, Eastern Mennonite, Junior

Stanley allowed just one run over seven innings to move to 1-0.  The junior scattered five hits while striking out six batters in his first outing in an EMU uniform.

Justin Morrison, Guilford, Freshman
Morrison picked up the Quakers’ first win of the season with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief… made his first college appearance with the bases loaded and induced a ground ball out to end the inning… yielded a hit, a walk and struck out one.

Robert Garrett, Lynchburg, Senior
Garrett pitched 6.1 innings on Saturday while only giving up two hits and three walks. He held Averett scoreless while Lynchburg mounted an eight-run comeback to help earn Garrett his first win of the season.
