
Smith a sophomore from Greensboro, N.C., helped the Quakers to a 2-1 week with six hits, including three homers, four runs and six RBI. He also had a .750 on-base percentage and a 1.778 slugging percentage for the week. Smith went 5-for-7 with a double, three homers and six RBI in Guilford’s doubleheader sweep of Maryville. He belted a three-run shot followed by a solo blast in the opening-game win and finished with three hits and four RBI in the contest. He homered in his first at bat of the nightcap and hit a game-tying double in the bottom of the seventh. Smith had two hits and two RBI in the game. He also went 1-for-3 in a mid-week game with Averett.
Baseball Player Honor Roll
Bryan Sanderson, Bridgewater, Sophomore, 2nd Base
Sanderson hit .400 in three games this week. He was
1-for-4 and scored BC’s lone run in a 2-1 loss to Ferrum.
Against Apprentice he was 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs.
Against No.5 Cortland St. he was 1-for-4 with a run scored. He also
drew four walks for the week for a .571 on-base percentage.
Zach Fitzpatrick, Lynchburg, Sophomore, Catcher
Fitzpatrick put up seven hits and registered six RBI
last week in four games, three of which were victories. Fitzpatrick
started each game as catcher and had his best game at the dish
against Birmingham Southern when he went 2-3 with three RBI. He
ranks second on the team in RBI on the season while holding a
cumulative batting average of .444 with an on-base percentage of
.565.
Jon Witt, Randolph-Macon, Junior, Designated Hitter
Witt finished 2-for-4 in a 2-1 loss to #4 Christopher
Newport on Tuesday. In game one of Saturday’s
double-header with Mary Washington, Witt finished 2-for-2 with
another RBI. For the season, Witt leads the team in batting
(.417), RBI’s (1), and hits (5).
Brian Kluge, Roanoke, Freshman, Outfielder
Kluge hit .500 (5-10) with two doubles and two RBI
in three games last week, leading the Maroons to their first two
wins of the season in a doubleheader vs. Maine-Presque Isle.
Had two hits in both games on Saturday vs. the Owls.
