
Del Buono, a junior from Clifton, Va., registered helped the Hornets to a 5-1 week with six multi-hit games on the way to a .478 batting average (11-for-23). Among his 11 hits were four extra-base hits including a double, triple and a pair of homeruns, which he smacked against Tufts University. Del Buono scored nine runs and drove in 10 more on the week. He had three runs batted in against Ferrum, Averett and Tufts to open the week. He also walked twice for 20 total bases. Del Buono is eighth in the ODAC with a .397 batting average, and he's first with four triples and a .679 slugging percentage. His four homers are also #2 in the league.
Baseball Player Honor Roll
Andrew Hacker, Bridgewater, Junior, 1st Base
Hacker continued his hot hitting with a .544 average
in four games. Against No. 20 Shenandoah, Hacker was 2-for-4 with
one RBI. In a DH split with Randolph-Macon, he was 3-for-6 with
three RBIs. He had an on-base percentage of .642 in four games.
Jonathan Estrada, Eastern Mennonite, Sophomore,
Catcher
Estrada continued to settle in last week, as the sophomore batted
.667 with a slugging percentage of 1.222. He batted 6-for-9
with 3 doubles and a triple, for a team-best 11 total bases.
He also scored four times with a pair of RBI, and added a sacrifice
for good measure. Against Greensboro on Friday, Estrada
reached base all four times he stepped to the plate, rapping out a
pair of doubles with a single and a walk.
John Macon Smith, Guilford, Sophomore, 1st
Base
Smith led the Quakers with a .467 batting average, six runs, seven
hits, and an .867 slugging percentage in Guilford’s 2-2 week.
He extended his hitting streak to six straight games.
He smacked his team- and ODAC-leading eighth homer of the
season in Guilford’s win over Eureka. His eight homers
this season rank14th in school history. Smith had three
hits in Guilford’s 14-0 win over Ferrum, including a double
and a triple. He scored three times and notched his ninth
multiple-hit game of the season.
Jon Witt, Randolph-Macon, Junior, 1st Base/Designated
Hitter
Witt led the Jackets to a 3-1 record over the week, capped by a big
day at the plate in the late game of a double-header with
Bridgewater. In that game, Witt finished 3-for-5 with a
homerun, a double, and four RBI.
Jonathan Stutts, Washington and Lee, Junior,
Shortstop
Stutts hit .556 (10-18) over five games as W&L posted a 4-1
week … also upped his current hitting streak to 14 games
… Opened the week going 2-for-4 the two runs and two RBIs in
a 12-2 win over Stevenson … was 1-for-3 with a pair of
walks, a double, two RBIs and a run in a 9-5 win over SVU …
was a combined 5-for-8 with a walk, a triple, a stolen base and two
RBIs, in a doubleheader sweep of Guilford … drove in the
game-winng in run with a two-out single in the bottom of the ninth
in game two against Guilford for a 4-3 W&L win …
finished the week going 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs in an
18-4 loss to Tufts.
