
Savage, a junior from Ashburn, Va., had a huge week at the plate, highlighted by a 5-for-5 performance in the second game against Bridgewater College. In that game, Savage smacked a pair of three-run homeruns while adding two doubles and a single along with another RBI for a total of seven in the game. He also plated two other runs during the week and crossed the plate a total of four times. He hit .467 during the week and is hitting .425 this season. Savage leads the ODAC in doubles (17), is tied for first in RBI (39) and is third in the conference in hits (51).

Ricky Sowers, Emory & Henry, Sophomore,
Shortstop/Pitcher
Sowers went eight-for-13 (.615) on the week, leading
the Wasps to a 2-1 record (2-0 ODAC) … Sowers went
three-for-five in Thursday’s loss to Greensboro College, and
was four-for-five with two runs, two RBI, two stolen bases and a
walk in Saturday’s 12-11 comeback win in game two against
Virginia Wesleyan … Sowers also picked up the win in relief
in game two against the Marlins, pitching the final four outs in
perfect fashion.
Justin Rodriguez, Eastern Mennonite, Freshman, 3rd
Base
Rodriguez continued his hot play last week, batting
.500 including his fourth homerun of the season. He was
5-for-10 from the plate with three runs and four RBIs.
Against Bridgewater on Tuesday, Rodriguez knocked in four of
EMU’s five runs, including two on a homerun which bounced off
the scoreboard in left field at the EMU Baseball Field. He
has a string of seven straight multi-hit games and has hit safely
in 25 of the last 26 games. The rookie has 38 RBIs this
season, just one behind the ODAC leaders. Rodriguez is also
third in homeruns, fifth in slugging percentage and in the top 11
in batting average, total bases, hits, doubles, sacrifice flies,
and stolen bases
Ben Esser, Guilford, Junior, 2nd Base
Esser hit .588 with a homer and six RBI in the Quakers’ 3-1
week… had 10 hits in 17 at-bats… logged a .632
on-base percentage… cleanly handled all 23 chances in the
field… had three multiple-hit performances, including
four-hit outings against Roanoke and Randolph-Macon… had a
season-high four hits, including his first homer of the year, and
three RBI in a road loss to Roanoke… had two hits and an RBI
in a win over Averett… went four-for-four with two RBI in
Guilford’s opening-game win over Randolph-Macon…
helped Guilford to its first doubleheader sweep of the Yellow
Jackets since 2004.
Jordan Walton, Randolph-Macon, Senior, 1st Base
Walton broke the Randolph-Macon College career hits
record in 10-5 win over Virginia Wesleyan, giving him 196 career
hits as he passed Greg Meleski (2006-2009) for first
all-time. Belted two homeruns against Guilford, and with his
second hit of the game he became just the 12th player in ODAC
history to reach the 200 hit plateau.
Jacob Clifton, Roanoke, Sophomore, 3rd Base
Clifton started the week off hot, hitting 3-for-3 against
Guilford, knocking in three runs and scoring one of his own.
He made the most of his hits during Hampden-Sydney double-header
where he only got one hit but scored two runs and collected two
RBIs.
