Stanley, a senior from Henrico, Va., started off the season just as new head coach Ben Spotts hoped his #1 arm would as Stanley went the distance to lead EMU to a season-opening 3-0 win at N.C. Wesleyan. Stanley fired seven scoreless innings in posting the complete game shutout. He surrendered just five hits, walked one and fanned five. He helped himself out of a jam in the fifth inning as he started a rare triple play to get out of the inning.
