Whitaker, a sophomore from Roanoke, Va., fired his fourth career complete game and first of the 2013 season in a 1-0 win over the University of Mary Washington on Sunday. The 2012 ODAC Rookie of the Year tossed seven shutout innings, surrendering just four hits without a walk. He fanned one batter to earn his first victory of the season and lower his earned run average to 0.82 in 11 innings pitched.

James picked up the win in Quakers' victory over NCAA Division II
Bluefield State with a career-high eight strikeouts over six
innings. He threw five shutout frames and struck out the side
in the fifth before the Blues struck three times in the
sixth. He walked only one and scattered five hits, four of
which came in the sixth.
Brandon Miller, Lynchburg - (So, P - Vesuvius, VA,
31)
Miller got the start for the Hornets in the first game of the
doubleheader against St. Andrews during the midweek. He threw a
seven-inning complete game, allowing four hits and one unearned run
in the first inning of a 1-0 loss. He did not walk a batter and
struck out two.
Michael Helbig, Randolph-Macon - (Sr, - Midlothian,
VA , 25)
Helbig tossed six scoreless innings in Randolph-Macon's 18-4
opening day win over St. Mary's (Md.) . He allowed just three hits,
struck out six and walked two in the win.
Ian Shaw, Washington and Lee - (Sr, - Atlanta, Ga.,
25)
Shaw pitched five scoreless innings of three-hit ball to earn his
first victory of the year over Rochester (Mich.) on Saturday. He
only allowed one batter to advance to second base while he was on
the mound. Shaw ended his outing with four strikeouts and no
walks.
