McKoon, a sophomore from Chattanooga, Tenn., spearheaded the Generals' shutout effort with a strong outing in a 6-0 victory over Averett in the season-opener. McKoon went 6.2 innings on the hill and surrendered just three hits without a walk, missing a complete-game in the 7-inning doubleheader contests by one out. He fanned seven along the way. After allowing a first-inning single with two down, McKoon set down 11 straight batters before a one-out single back up the middle broke his run in the fifth.
