Pond, a freshman from Chesterfield, Va., made the most of his first collegiate outing as he came on in relief in the Hornets 2-0 victory at Maryville (Tenn.). Pond worked the final four innings without allowing a run or walking a batter. He surrendered four hits and fanned three batters to earn the win and help Lynchburg to its first shutout since March 5, 2016.
