Tappy, a sophomore from Charlotte, N.C., put the caps on a strong pitching day in the Tigers 2-1 victory at Methodist in the first game of a double-header split in Hampden-Sydney's opening games of the schedule. Tappy tossed three scoreless frames to close the game and earn his first victory in his first appearance of the season. He gave up one hit and walked two batters while fanning a pair.
