 Offensive Player of the Week

 Matt Pawlowski|Guilford|Fr.|Quarterback
Pawlowski, a freshman from Greensboro, N.C., led Guilford from a pair of deficits to post their second league win of the season and their first win over Bridgewater College since 2006. In the Quakers 23-20 win, Pawlowski was efficient and effective as he completed 18-of-26 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns without an interception for the second straight week. He had a hand in each of Guilford's touchdowns as he also ran for a score in addition to completed a two-point pass. Pawlowski completed passes to seven different receivers. He hit Adam Smith with a 22-yard TD pass in the second quarter, and then gave Guilford its first lead at 15-14 with a 1-yard touchdown run. After Bridgewater went ahead 20-14, Pawlowski tossed the eventual game-winning 10-yard touchdown pass to Nick Mearite with 7:13 to play. His two-point pass to Mearite made it 23-20. On the season, Pawlowski has 11 touchdown passes against just four interceptions while completing 59.9-percent of his attempts.

 Defensive Player of the Week

 Patrick Thomas|Catholic University|So.|Defensive Back
Thomas, a sophomore from Newtown, N.J., played a big part in the Cardinals second ODAC win of the season, which came in a 34-7 win over Shenandoah University. The Cardinals held SU to 236 yards of total offense and forced five turnovers in the effort. Thomas was responsible for two of those turnovers. He got things started with an interception midway through the first quarter that stopped the Hornets as they tried to level the score at 7-all. In the second quarter, Thomas came up from his cornerback position to make a stop at the line of scrimmage, but he also jarred the ball free from the runner and picked up the loose ball. Three plays later, Catholic made good on the extra possession with a touchdown for a 13-0 lead. Thomas finished the day with five total tackles (three solo) and also batted down a pass, one of six passes broken up by the CUA defense. For the season, Thomas is third on the team with 32 tackles with a pair of interceptions.

Team News and Notes

BRIDGEWATER took an early lead on Thursday night before numerous turnovers and mistakes proved costly in a 23-20 loss at Guilford. The loss snapped a five game winning streak against the Quakers. Bridgewater rolled up 399 total yards of offense in the loss and committed a season-high 13 penalties for 114 yards. Quarterback Willie Logan threw for 245 yards but was intercepted twice. Jacob Wright rushed for 88 yards on 17 carries to help lead the offense.  Defensively, Salem Nganga le the unit with 13 tackles.  Joel Francis forced a fumble, which was recovered by Daryus Beale.  That led to the first score of the game in the second quarter.

NEXT WEEK: vs. Washington and Lee (5-1, 3-0 ODAC) - 1:00 p.m.
Bridgewater and Washington and Lee will be meeting for the 43rd time on Saturday with W&L owning a 25-17 advantage in the all-time series that began in 1964.  The Generals have won each of the last two matchups with BC's last win coming on Halloween in 2009 via a 35-34 overtime win in Lexington.  In the past two meetings, W&L has averaged 540 yards of offense and 43.5 points per game.  Washington and Lee picked up a 52-42 win in a shootout last season.  Charlie Westfal led the way for W&L with 162 yards and two touchdowns passing in addition to 109 yards and two more scores rushing.  Bridgewater was paced by running back Anthony Carter, who busted out for 233 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries.

CATHOLIC finished with 390 yards of total offense in its win over Shenandoah on Friday, registering 113 on the ground and 277 through the air. Greg Cordivari threw for 277 yards on 20-of-31 passing. WASHINGTON AND LEE's offense wasn't on the field much as Randolph-Macon ran 80 plays as opposed to 49 for W&L and the Yellow Jackets controlled the clock for 38:57 of the game in the Generals' 49-14 win on Saturday.  However, W&L rushed for 473 yards (fourth-highest total in ODAC history) on 41 carries, averaging 11.5 yards per rush and 10.4 yards per play.  Senior running back Sasha Vandalov rushed for a career-high 199 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries in the win over Randolph-Macon on Saturday.  He came into the game with just 141 yards over the first five games of the season.  Senior running back Luke Heinsohn rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries.  He added seven PATs for a total of 25 points.  In the process, Heinsohn broke the school's season scoring record of 110 points held by Kevin Weaver '86 since 1985.  He now has 124 points on the season and leads the nation in scoring.  He also moved to within 128 yards of breaking the school's career rushing record of 3,140 yards held by Chris Sullivan '03.  His 15 rushing touchdowns are also just three away from breaking Weaver's season touchdowns record (17) set in 1985.  The defense limited the Yellow Jackets to just 14 points by holding R-MC to just 106 total yards in the second half.  Jesse Jenkins totaled nine tackles and a sack.  Walter Ramsey and Russell Stewart both intercepted passes.
