Team News and Notes

BRIDGEWATER got its first win in over a month when the Eagles picked up a conference victory over Emory & Henry to move back to .500 on the season. For Bridgewater, the win was the sixth straight victory at Emory & Henry and the fifth straight win overall against the Wasps. Bridgewater didn't commit a turnover in the win, marking the first time in conference play that the Eagles didn't commit a turnover. Quarterback Willie Logan completed 76% of his passes (19-of-25) for 291 yards and three scores to lead the offense, while Andrew Palmer led a Bridgewater defense that picked off two Kyle Boden passes on the day. Palmer amassed 11 tackles on the day to remain atop the league in total tackles with 79. Chandler DeHaven booted two field goals in the win to run his made field goals number to a league-leading nine on the year. DeHaven is in the top 25 in the nation in field goals made and his nine field goals is the highest number for a Bridgewater player since Mike Padgett made 13 field goals in 1998.

NEXT WEEK: vs. Randolph-Macon (6-2, 4-1 ODAC) - 1:00 p.m.
Bridgewater hosts Randolph Macon at the Jopson Athletic Complex on Saturday. Randolph-Macon leads the all-time series with a 55-15-3 record against the Eagles in a rivalry that dates back to 1926. The Yellow Jackets took the first game in series history by a 25-0 score and rattled off wins in 21 of the next 22 games with the other game ending in a 6-6 tie in 1928. Bridgewater's first win in series history came in 1962 by an 18-0 score. Bridgewater strung together eight straight wins against the Yellow Jackets from 1999-2006, but Randolph-Macon has won five of the last six games in the series, including back-to-back wins after last season's 38-26 victory in Ashland.

CATHOLIC led 10-7 midway thru the third quarter at Washington and Lee, but fell to the Generals 14-10 following W&L's score early in the final frame.  Tanner Keefe registered the Cardinals TD via a 44-yard pass play from TJ Tutone.  Andrew Ouellettee caught 10 passes for 74 yards.  Defensively, four Cardinals registered 10 or more tackles, with R.J. Allison notching a game-best 12 stops.  Vinny Caniglia had a sack and an interception, while Patrick Thomas added another pick.  Allison and Jeremy Shiner recovered fumbles.

NEXT WEEK: vs. Guilford (5-3, 4-1 ODAC) - 12:00 p.m.

His 916 yards are the most by a Quaker since 1995. Punter Tyler Hunt completed his first college pass attempt on a fake. He is the first Guilford punter to complete a pass since John Alt did it Nov. 13, 1999, versus Greensboro. Hunt is also a pitcher for the Quakers' baseball team.

RANDOLPH-MACON's 42-7 home win over Shenandoah -- combined with Guilford's loss to Hampden-Sydney -- moved the Yellow Jackets into a three-way tie for first in ODAC at 4-1.  R-MC now 5-2 all-time against Shenandoah, with five straight wins.  Senior Greg Petrohovich caught a TD pass and tossed a TD pass in the win over SU.  R-MC held the ball for 35:01 vs. 24:59 for SU.  Will McGhee now has 1,321 rushing yards this season, the third-highest total in program history. The school record is 1,551 by Zak Thornton in 2007.  R-MC was 5-5 on red zone scores, improving its season average to better than 90% (28-of-31).  Quarterback Zac Naccarato fell one pass attempt short of qualifying for the ODAC single-season record for pass completion percentage.  He completed 13-of-14 passing for 92.9-percent.  The ODAC's top two numbers are 93.5-percent and 93.3-percent.  Marcus Mitchell led the defense with eight stops (4 solo) and one TFL.
